Firearms careers?

Currently a 26 year old former Marine in college, looking to find some direction in life when it comes to a career path. Currently a secondary education major at UTC right now cause when I thought about what I like to do while I was in Iraq my last time I came up with two things; History, and blowing **** up. Figured since I can't legally blow **** up I'm stuck with history and since you can't do much with history aside from teach it I am a secondary ed major. I'm a junior and hope to graduate sometime before the end of the world cause I can't stand college and college kids! Over the past year that I've been out of the Marine Corps I've really missed somethings, such as being around like minded people and fooling around with weapons. This has lead me to come up with a couple future plans for myself. One is continue with my teaching degree get it and teach and hope I can find or start a rifle team at a school, start a firearm safety school geared toward adolescents, go back in the Marine Corps Reserve for a few years and get retrained as an armorer, come out and reassess my situation and hope I can find something geared a little more towards my liking. I also thought about going to Chatt State and doing their gunsmith program. The only thing truly keeping me from following my dreams is the lack of certainty that I will be able to find a job that will lead to a decent paying career. Just wondering if anyone on here had any input that may be insightful. thanks.

first, thanks for your service! I can't really help you on the career paths. My first thought would be promoting products for a gun manufacturer. Maybe teach marksmanship at a college and HCP classes on the weekend. I know of a guy at ETSU that does this, might be worth looking into. Good luck

I happen to work for a major firearms company. I am a marine reservist, did several years active duty as well. Anyway we will be looking at adding people to our LE/military side. Shoot me a PM with what you are looking for, and a resume, if you have one. We might consider you...even if you are a cannon cocker....lol.

I don't suppose you have any recruiting experience? If so, I may be able to help. Not exactly firearms related, but still, a good group of like minded folks.

@323ssplt let me get my resume updated and I'll send it your way.

@Chris the extent of my recruiting expierence is doing recruiters assistance for a month while I waited on my class to pick up at artillery school.

That might work. We only a part time position but the call center is growing and it could become full time pretty quickly. Great group of military and ex-military folks. I'll PM the listing.

I'd contact someone like Joe Lundberg, who goes by the name bimmerfreak here. I only know Joe through my involvement on TGO, but he seems pretty connected in the gun industry. Doesn't Smith and Wesson have some sort of private security offshoot in Middle Tennessee? Can't think of the name, but that might be a place to check. Last year they were hiring for an in-house counsel. That would be a sweet gig (I'm a lawyer).
