The one I wrote wasn't about a scenario involving kids walking across your yard either. How stupid do you think we are to start shooting at kids that are doing nothing more than walking in your grass?????

If he's pushing a mower that looks like yours, common sense would say he's stealing yours. However, we have judges and juries to make that decision.

No one strolling off with MY possesions is innocent. Period. What part about that do people not understand??

Spoken like a trigger happy redneck. That's what people will say, and it's the impression it gives when gun owners think they should be judge, jury, and executioner. You're simply wrong, and our laws reflect that.

Do you want your kid to get shot for pushing a lawn mower that looks like it was stolen from a mower, and somebody got a big trigger happy, rather than do some DUE DILLIENCE? That's what courts are for, guns are not.

And as I said already, it wasn't the fact you presented a what-if scenario, it was the ridiculous one you gave us. Kids in our yards getting shot for nothng more than being in the yard????? C'mon.

That's not what I said, is it? Who's insluting who's intelligence?

I'm no lawyer, heck I don't even know any lawyers, but I wish we didn't have to bend over backwards making sure we don't infringe on a criminals rights. If we do, we end up facing charges and that's nothing but wrong from any way you look at it.

you still don't get it...

The same laws you say keep from infringing on a criminals' rights are the same ones that protect you and I. Take away their rights, and you take away ours. ...such as the right to a trial.

Let me ask you why this person is pushing a lawn mower in my yard in the first damn place? His, mine or otherwise.

Just as I don't count on the police to protect me, I don't need a judge and/or jury to tell me that someone in my yard, with my possessions in their hands is guilty of stealing from me.

I just wish I was so rich or had so many things I didn't have to worry about people taking them from me. But unless someone else is going to come over and cut my grass, I'd miss my lawn mower and more than likely would have to forgo some other purchase to get a new one.......hopefully it wouldn't be a food or medical purchase that would have to let go.

ummm...I think we are off topic...lol...we are talking about a stolen radiator, and the car was driving away, and the dude shot at it and killed a woman that happened to be pregnant.

we are not talking about kids with lawn mowers.

I will say, that there are degrees of crimes that we as a society have accepted, we vote lawmakers in and expect them to do their job. I inadvertantley steal pens all the time, sometimes I will borrow a lighter, out of habit, I put it in my pocket...that is stealing, do I deserve to die for it?

I for one think that if this was a carjacking, yes, defend yourself. If they are driving away with your 5 dollars worth of copper, get the plate and call it in.

do not continue to make this more than it is, it is a radiator, probably an old, leaking, non-working radiator... none of us even know where it was located, was it by the trash cans? or by the curb? I didnt see that anywhere in the story. We assume that because the dude that shot them said they "stole" it, that the people were crack addict theives out burglarizing the towns....I also find it funny that the people also criticize the media for not giving all of the facts, or giving a twisted version...

we need more facts to pass any judgments on this one IMHO

This one's run its course. I enjoyed reading it, I think I know a little more about where many of you are coming from, now.

My take... Loss of life is generally bad, especially loss of innocent life. I don't think anything can be more innocent than an unborn baby. The girlfriend might have been there voluntarily, or maybe not, that really doesn't matter. When someone fires a gun, and it destroys something which should not have been destroyed, the person who pulled the trigger should be 100% accountable for it.

If the bullet had struck the thief, I'd feel like the world was a better place... amazing what a difference poor aim makes!
