Unloaded.

“Unloaded” means the rifle, shotgun or handgun does not have ammunition in the chamber, cylinder, clip or magazine, and no clip or magazine is in the immediate vicinity of the weapon.

HCP holders can have a rifle with a loaded mag in the rifle, but there can not be a round in the chamber.

Does the law actually say "No Clip"? Magazine I know, but clip??? I keep a Mauser and a bandolier full of loaded stripper clips in "the truck". If you learn to use stripper clips properly, it's fast as a light switch.

Yes.What I wrote earlier:

“Unloaded†means the rifle, shotgun or handgun does not have ammunition in the chamber, cylinder, clip or magazine, and no clip or magazine is in the immediate vicinity of the weapon.

Is exact quote from the Part Definitions (39-17-1301) of the Weapons section of TCA.

So, get your HCP and you can even store the first clip's worth IN THE RIFLE, eh?

I wouldn't even think of trying that. I think I will move the bandolier to under the front seat and the rifle to the back though. Get a little separation.

I think he meant getting the HCP.

Not sure though

Well, how does a Handgun Carry Permit legally justify a loaded long gun?

Because it simply does, for a couple of years now.

Loaded mag/clip/tube in rifle or shotgun, long as one is not in chamber.

In vehicle only, not carried.

Of course, you can keep loaded mag/clip right next to gun, too, but might has well have it as ready to go as possible, eh?
