My mom owned one of these around 95'-96' I think.

Here is what I know about it...

"Foxy Deluxe"

10.5' x 50"

18hp Motor

Carpet

AM/FM Cassette Radio

Running Lights

It was quick, sat really low in the water and turned really sharp.

Me and a guy at work are trying to figure out who made them. Can't find anything on the web. This was purchased around Paris Landing... maybe. (She sold the boat after maybe a year.)

Anyone ever seen one, heard of them, etc? Don't think they were made very long at all.

That one's got a trolling motor on it. Do you know who made the motor that was on your mom's? Starting in the late 80's, a lot of boats were made by captive manufacturers of the engine companies under one or multiple labels.

This reminds me of some of the old Thai river racing boats. Those were handbuilt from plywood, but the hull dimensions and lines were basically the same. Any manufacturer who made these would have likely only made a few - the small size and seating capacity simply don't fit too many recreational boaters needs. That said, for someone who just wants to get out on a calm lake, a craft like this could be a lot of fun.

I'll look around.

The trolling motor on it was just on it there. These pictures are some the dealer gave her while she tried

to decide if she wanted it or not. It then came with an 18hp motor. She passed 10 years ago, and I don't have

much more to go on. A guy at work really liked the hull and thought it would make a really neat hobby boat to

scoot around in if they could still be found sitting around places.

10.5 feet is such a small waterline length - today we've got jet skis that are longer. I'm thinking this one might be a bit older. Maybe 60's vintage, though, it lookws to be in good shape if it was that old. I found another similar hull profile on a 1955 built boat by an unknown manufacturer. I'll keep digging around.

Seems like she bought it new. Something about it being a new company and they were

just getting started. But that was a long time ago. She later sold it and got a wave runner

instead.

I drove it a couple of times, but it gave me the creeps. I sat so low in the water that I felt

real vulnerable in it.

I bet it would turn on a dime. Of course, being that short with so little chine, I bet it would oblige you in taking on substantial water on that same dime.

The Coast Guard's Manufacturer's Identification Database lists a Fox Custom Boats that would line up with this one. Unfortunately, they started manufacturing in 1991 and went out of business in 2001.

Neat little boat but would be scary as crowdeed as todays waterways are.

For some reason, it reminds me of the Amphicar made in the early 60's. There's a guy on Lake Rabun down in Georgia where our family has some cabins that will ride around in this thing on the quiet end of the lake. It's always really cool to see, but it's got to be squirrely. Even at idle speed, I feel like I might capsize him.

I remember going with my parents to look at an Amphicar at a dealer in the early 60's. My dad was always interested in the odd and interesting technologies.
