The best place to buy or look at a Rock Island is Bellshire Hardware on Dickerson Road in Madison. He sells the Tactical on Gunbroker for $430.

As always, you guys give a lot to think about. The thing is, I can get this Mil-Spec for a SMOKING deal, and sell it off if I need to upgrade, and probably come out ahead, even selling it used.

Didn't realize that about the front sight... Hmmm...

Thanks for all the input. The boss has something against RIA (she thinks they're cheap and refuses to look into it any more than that... ha ha) but that Remington might be worth a look.

You asked for input and I tried to help you out. In return you tell me my RIA Match is "cheap". Sorry I thought you were buying the gun, not your Boss.

I think the "boss" he refers to is SWMBO. And if she would rather him spend more money on a higher quality 1911, I think that winds up in the plus column for him, and shouldn't be construed as a slam towards you, or your RIA.

I'm sorry I misunderstood. The only SWMBO I ever had was my Mother!

I guess I am a really lucky guy. My wife likes to shoot and probably has as many guns as I do. She has been telling me for a few years now that we need a suppressor. She doesn't complain about gun purchases. Last time she fired a machine gun she also said we needed one of those but I suspect we would go broke feeding it. She shoots better than I do and has no problem killing nuisance animals as long as they are causing problems.

Then you are a lucky man...!

Yes I am.:screwy:

My better half and I have been equal partners since we met. I don’t complain about how many shoes she has and she doesn’t complain about how many toys I have. Life is good!

Im going out on a limb here but a STI Spartan would be a great gun for around $600. Its one of the best bang for your buck guns out there. No upgrading needed for quite some time.

Browning Purist............... No wonder you didn't have any holsters for a railed 1911 :-) ...................... Seriously take a look at the STI Spartan.

Ok, not to hijack this but what the heck is SWMBO?

Yeah, I am a dummy.

She-who-must-be-obeyed

Yeah, I am dummy too, had to look it up.
