Hello All:

Shot the modified Glock 19 today. Here's the deal.

I used Dunndw's stock G19 as a comparison, so I could easily tell any differences. (I added the 3.5 trigger bar connecter and Glockmeister trigger spring.)

The trigger pull was not all that different. It was hard to feel the additional effort required to pull the stock trigger. No major change in feel, except the trigger felt crisper all the way around. The new spring clearly had an effect on trigger reset. It was quicker (less forward travel required) which helped my times on double-taps. The lighter pull reduced to some degree my tendency to go low/left when I am not really concentrating on proper grip or during follow-up shots. The mods caused no malfunctions -gun ran 100% perfect as usual. (It is a Glock, after all! :D)

Overall, $25.00 worth of parts and 15 minutes of home gunsmithing are not going to make me a better shooter, but the mods helped to lessen my natural tendencies. Did it make the gun "better?" Maybe not, but perhaps "Better for me" is closer. I think it was worth the $.

(A guy in the next bay had a custom 1911 w/about a 1.5 lb trigger pull. He let me run a mag through it. Wow. It was like there was no trigger. You thought to yourself "fire" and it did. Don't carry it, but nice if you are into a custom race gun for competition.)

I also shot my Ruger New Model Blackhawk in .45acp. This is a single-action only wheel gun, and it shot real nice. Good weight distribution, nice trigger pull. My first shot was center x-ring. (A good sign, I think.) Handles nicely, no problems with extraction. Less recoil than a 1911. LOUSY LOUSY HORRIBLE front sight. A black blade that is basically useless. I'm going to paint the blade a bright orange or white -should help lots. Other than that, no complaints.

Finally, Guns & Leather update. The leather shop is in the new building and the gun smith is moving in within 2 weeks. The guy currently works in a gun shop in Lavergne, but is moving to G&L. As usual, the place was packed. Saw a nice AR I wanted to fondle, but everyone was so busy.

All-in-all a fun day. Met Dunndw's brother, shot about 5 different cool guns, perforated some paper. What more could you ask?

(I tend to yank the gun left a little on follow-up shots, resulting in a left/low 2nd hit.)

This is your problem. This constant yanking to the left. Modifying a Glock won't help that. You need to read some good books on economics. Start with Milton Friedman.

At the very worst you will end up yanking to the right, which isn't as bad. At least you'll be in good company on this forum.

Actually, I'm more of a fan of a graduate of your alma mater who wrote, among other insightful things:

"How selfish soever man may be supposed, there are evidently some principles in his nature which interest him in the fortune of others and render their happiness necessary to him though he derives nothing from it except the pleasure of seeing it."

(I think that quote is from "Theory of Moral Sentiments," but don't bank on it -its been a few years...)

As far as yanking the gun (or anything else to right), I just don't see it happening. I will agree it certainly is not the gun's fault. :D
