I see alot of reviews for the .380 Bodyguard but I am more interested in the revolver. Anybody own one or shot one? Do you like carrying it? etc. I fondled one and really liked it even though I am not a revolver fan, but it felt great in the hand and light. I am left handed so the cylinder release is a plus for me.

Unless you just have to have the laser I would go with the 642/637/638 series of S&W revolvers. The cylinder release is the one weak point I see on the BG38 just because it is made of plastic and just feels cheap to me. But with you being left handed the design might be a plus for you. The BG38 is a budget way to get a small .38 with a laser. It is a lot cheaper than buying a 642 and putting a set of Crimson Trace grips on it. So if you want the laser and are on a budget the BG38 is probably the gun for you.

Didn't like the Bodyguard much.

Bought the LCR instead. MUCH better trigger and goes right to where you point it.

If you want that laser thingy on it the Ruger also has a grip laser rather the stupid button on top thing S&W put on the Bodyguard, like anyone is going to take the time to go hunting for the button in the dark.

I prefer .38sp to .380 as well, and have started pocketing the LCR instead of a PF9 or Sig 230. Just shoots better.

I'm with jmb didn't care for the laser to much and really liked the way the trigger was on the lcr so I got that one I liked the grip better on the lcr to more natural to me

I was about to say go with the ruger LCR because of the cylinder release is in the normal place.

But, since your a lefty it may just be the ticket.

I think smith moved the latch because of me. With air weights and + P's the standard latch will hit my thumb. The Light Ruger does not.

I say go for it.

Thanks all. I appreciate the responses. I also agree the laser is not really a selling point for me. The small button is hard to push, especially under stress I imagine, have heard it is usefull for dry fire practice though. But the cylinder release is much easier for me (lefty as mentioned) which might just sell it to me. I have a 686P and reloads are difficult. I saw that someone posted a range report today, so off to check that out.

i have one and really enjoy shooting it and light weight is awesome. but it shoots 2 to 3 inch's to the left when using the sights dead on with the laser. can smith fix this shooting left or is that just part of shooting a snub nose.

I have one and really like it, bought it for my wife but so far she has not taken the time to submit her permit app even though she has done the course. So for now it's all mine hahaha. I thought it shot well enough for a snubbie. She was un impressed by the recoil but got some wadcutters for target practice and they are sweet enough even for her. I have been happy with it and hope you are too if you go that route.

I've shot one and really thought I'd like it. To be honest though, the trigger on the one I shot was really terrible. Most smith revolvers I've fired have a great trigger. I have an old smith .38 that has a really sweet trigger. This one was very gritty/notchy feeling. I was VERY disappointed.
