The pursuit was a long one, stretching nearly 30 miles

I believe that qualifies as a felony stop if they refused to stop for a long period of time. Someone may correct me.

Edit, I just found the more button. seems there may be more, but seems the LEO's saw a pack of motorcycles doing 133 MPH. Not sure if they may have mistaken this bike for some of the others or not. The rider of this bike makes that claim. I have no way to say either way.

He was a temp driver for my company at the time. (Big trucks) That was a Suzuki Hayabusa that went to the ground. He claimed that he was not part of a group of speeding bikes that was also on I-40. Stop was ruled "improper"

Thanks for the update, did the motorcyclist have to fix his motorcycle or did the state pay to have it fixed?

In almost no case will you see where the state pays for damages caused by an officer acting in good faith. You'll note that I did not put quotes around any part of that because most of the time they are. My guess is that either he or his insurance - if he had it - paid for it.

If so, the state works different than many municipalities. My department pays for damage to dang near everything we tear up when it's "our bad". Maybe not legally required when we act in good faith, but it's what is right.
