Why is there no law (at least to my knowledge) that states if an individual is committing a crime and is injured that he or she may not file a lawsuit?

what crime was he committing? Jaywalking maybe? Stupidity is not a crime either.Kind of the same if you illegally park your vehicle in the road and it gets hit, it is still the fault of the guy who hit you.

There is no crosswalk where he is crossing, so yes, jaywalking is what I had in mind.

I believe they showed him on Tosh and he is actually has a lawsuit against the driver of that truck, even though he caused the accident if you can even call it an accident. I believe the driver of the truck should have a lawsuit against him, also the insurance company should have a lawsuit against him.

That is why! Unfortunately, there is little incentive to not file these suits. Many juries will regard this as the opportunity to screw a corporation (insurance company) and award a large settlement so that the idiot wins. Unfortunately, we ALL pay when the insurance company loses. Guess why insurance rates are so high! The money has to come from somewhere! And when ONE insurance company loses a stupid suit like this, ALL insurance companies have to razise their rates to compensate against the increased risk.

Of course he did; a business was involved. He found an attorney that would take his case and that is part of our system that is broke. We have a legal system; not a justice system.

One thing could put an end to most of these suits overnight...

Make the losing attorney pay court costs and legal fees for the entire trial. Just about every ambulance chaser would quit then...

But... his attorney probably won't lose, and the suit probably covers all costs. DaveTN is right. A jury will probably side with the dumbass.
