I made the mistake of watching the Travel Channel just now, and Man vs. Food: Carnivore Chronicles was in Chicago showcasing pizzerias.

I'm now CRAVING Chicago-style, deep-dish pizza. Not the generic, hand-made stuff. That's good enough, but I want the real deal.

Anyone done the Old Chicago Pasta and Pizza in Murfreesboro?

Discuss, but hurry! It's lunchtime!

GOOOOOOOD pizza down there. Tell you what... if you decide to head that way for pizza tonight, call me. We'll meet you and I'll bring the Glock sight tool.

You have my # right?

Well...my social events calendar coordinator has informed me of plans for this evening made previously. So a dinner trip to MBoro has been cancelled. :(

I don't know why I try to plan anything other than my employment duties. Everything else seems to die in committee. That being the "Wife & In-Laws" committee.

I'm such a sheep.

For the record, I haven't been able to find any pizza places here in that Nashville that can make a Chicago style deep dish pizza worth a damn.

Some other time then. We're heading that way tonight with Hornet Handler (also a TGO'er) and his family. If you find your stones, come and join us. :bat:

Oh, I know where they are. My wife has one, and my mother-in-law has the other. They seem to daily concoct plans that relentlessly smash them together.

I have eaten hundreds, if not a thousand or more, Chicago pizzas (not 'style', because they were eaten in Chicago), and the only one I've found in the Nashville area that is even similar is now being served by Snappy Tomato. It is deep, meat on bottom, then cheese, then the sauce on top. It was pretty good. But if you want a good Chicago pizza, go to Chicago.

I used to work at Stefano's in Knoxville. It was Chicago style. I think the one on the strip is still open. I am going to go the opposite though and suggest NY Pie on Charlotte in the Nashville West shopping center. That is my new favorite pizza joint.

I just saw that the other day, never tried them. Do they deliver?

Well, as luck would have it...my travels with the extended family took me to Clarksville, and I found out that there was an Old Chicago Pizzeria there too. I hated to miss the double-date offer with TGO David, but nonetheless got to have quite a dang good pizza. We went for the Chicago Seven, that was slammed with cheese and all sorts of meat. Not having any true reference, and considering this is a chain franchise, I'll have to admit that it was quite possibly the best pizza I have ever eaten. My 70 year-old father-in-law said it was definitely the best he'd had.

I guess I'll have to go to Chicago to beat it.

Man, Old Chicago and Jets pizza both mentioned here.

Those chain stores can fool most people, but the sad thing is that there is no real Chicago style pizza around here.

Your best bet is to just order a Lou Malnatis bake your own or fly to Chicago :screwy:
