Ok Apples Vs Apples ,,that simple.

Off the shelf GI Model 1911 parts aren't easily interchangeable, do to flow in design and do to same design is highly sustainable to jamming, so much so that a simple stovepipe jam can completely disable 1911..making it unusable

i would compare it to over sized DD silicon boobs:) they look sexy , but they to big and there something is really wrong with them :)

Beretta M9 on the other hand ,, parts are easily interchangeable without any tools needed , open slide design is super easy to clear jam, and even in magazine failure still easier to load single bullet in the barrel. making it usable in any situations

Just like nice natural C size boobs ...just perfect :)

ARE YOU HIGH?!

I do know that the Beretta M9 had some pretty significant problems with stress fractures on the frames, they saw slides flying off on occasion, and some magazine problems in the desert environments. That's not to say that the 1911 design was flawless, but there's a reason that military special ops folks virtually always go to other designs besides the M9. You also can't deny the caliber argument. The 9mm round was chosen for convenience since it was the most common round in use by European NATO member nations, not because it was the most effective battlefield pistol round. Would I want to be shot with either one? Clearly not, but I'd personally rather have a higher caliber round on tap if I was headed into combat. I also find it disappointing that the US chose an Italian manufacturer for our standard issue sidearm. I will argue that the 1911 is one of the most innovative handgun designs in history and I wouldn't be surprised if we didn't see this one in common use in another 100 years while the Beretta M9/92 platform will be cast to the scrap heap of history.

Caliber is irrelevant to discussing the functionality of a design in comparison to another.

Beretta may be an Italian company, but the pistols were and are produced in america. It's still irrelivent to the discussion.

Now, the stress fractures were an issue.

THe magazine jammings were an issue.

They have been corrected.

NOw, tell me:

How is the design of the Beretta inferior to the 1911?

Here's how it is not:

An open slide design reduces the number of malfunctions due to stove pipes, and makes it easier to clear them. It carries more rounds, and does not require the hammer to be cocked to fire which is more tactically advantageous.

Personally, I happen to think that the military should transition to the GLock platform. 9MM or .45 is up to them.

THe glock is simple, reliable, and will outlast both the Beretta and the 1911.

THat's why it is the choice of most tactical trainers and professionals.

Let the flame wars continue...

This whole debate is stupid because the pistol is the least important of all military arms and if it comes down to using one, you are probably screwed. They are for staff and officers to carry to the chow hall so they don't have to carry a rifle around because they are special.
