Truck Storage Options

I just came into possession of a Ford Ranger with a regular cab. One thing I've noticed is that there is absolutely no room to store anything in the cab. Are there any options I can get for adding more storage in the cab area? Not necessarily for firearms, just for general storage of small things.

You want it bigger on the inside then the ouside?

I drive one, they are small trucks. Not much you can do.

I have owned a few. Best option is an automatic on the steering column. That seems to give more room by opening up the floor space.

Heck, you probably see me driving aroud Oak Ridge in my 20 year old white ranger.

A gun rack is a good option. Hang stuff, like range bags, GF or wife's purse or a man purse, hats, gun belt and holster, and the list goes on. You could even hang a rifle or shotgun on it. A friend had a marine mesh net, like they use in boats, hanging from his gun rack where he threw all kinds of small stuff. They make storage boxes that fit in the center of the seat, not pretty but fairly functional. My Ranger has a lockable storage area behind the bench seat but my Ranger is a 1973 model F250...A bit larger than the current Ranger.

BK you are really going to find yourself limited. The options for in the cab have been mentioned.

Other options are a cap or tonnel cover for the bed, or a locking tool box that sits on the bed.

Yeah, I'm going to get a locking box for the bed and eventually a camper shell. I guess just going from a "luxury" SUV to a Ranger is going to be a bit of an adjustment. I just hate not being able to store much of anything in the cab.

I have seen boxes that can be bolted to the bed sitting completely inside the bed, then you can cover the bed with a cap.

I have also seen storage thingys that attach somehow to the cabwall behind the bench seat. I don't know if they make them for a Ranger. But they appeared to hold quite a bit as they had different compartments on it.

A locking tonneau ( sp?) is a good option. I believe there is a slot molded in the bedwalls for a 2X4 that will hold gear or whatever close to the tail gate too.

I had a Ranger new back in 95. It was a nice truck but a little small for my tastes. I hope it suits your needs.

And it is a Ford so you know it is reliable.

What year model Ranger? My Ranger was a '78 F-100. ;)

There are 'toolboxes' designed to fit behind the seat of a regular cab pickup. Something like that may help you. There are also overhead consoles that mount above the windshield.

It's an '05. I'm fairly tall so my seat is all the way up against the back wall of the cab, so there's really no room at all to put anything behind the seats. I really love the truck, and I got a killer deal on it. It's got enough minor things wrong with it to satisfy my need to fix stuff myself. :D I've pretty much given up on trying to keep stuff in the cab. I think I'm going to get a tonneau cover and just keep stuff in some Rubbermaid bins in the back (fluids, tools, etc).
