XD trigger reset

One of the primary complaints I hear about the XD is the long trigger reset... I decided to investigate if there is anything which can be done about it, aside from buying an aftermarket trigger-bar and sear kit, which costs over $100. So, with my new-found courage to tweak my XDs, from the work I did on my XD-9 Tactical, I proceeded to disassemble my XD-357 tonight and massage its stock trigger bar a little (with the spare trigger-bar taken out of the XD-9 as a reference)... What I discovered was that the only thing hindering the stock XD trigger from having a short reset was the angle and clearance of the hook at the rear of the trigger-bar which contacts the sear. After 30 seconds of careful filing on the contact area of the hook, to remove approx 1/64 of material and chamfer the upper edge, the resulting trigger-pull was nothing short of phenomenal... The trigger breaks significantly closer to the end of its travel, and the reset is half of what it once was (and much smoother). The sear engagement on the striker is not affected at all. Moving the break-point farther back increases the pre-travel, but for a carry-pistol this is ideal, much like an M&P, only far more crisp... overall trigger-travel is identical to stock, but over-travel is nil.

This is definitely a mod worth doing if you don't want to drop $$$ on an aftermarket trigger kit, but want a shorter reset while retaining a carryable trigger weight and pre-travel. It is a permanent modification to the trigger bar, but, a replacement stock trigger-bar is like $10, if you ever wanted to return the pistol to original.
