I know this isn't exactly the right place for this but I don't have access to the classified postings. Here's my idea.

Would you guys use a ffl service for out of state purchases if it was just 15 bucks? I know alot of folks buy online to save money but end up almost breaking even because of high ffl fees. If I offered this service from a residential location would that bother you enough that you wouldn't use the service?

lemme know if you guys ate interested I might try this on the near future.

I can't find anything about it online. I'll give the knox county sheriff a call tomorrow for clarification.

Do you know why this is?

Murfreesboro won’t either. Here it has nothing to do with guns; they won’t let you have a business unless it is zoned for that. It is my understanding that part of the FFL process is now checking with your City/County to see if they allow you a business in your home.

Otherwise many of us would have them; they are only $200. :D

Also, my understanding of the FFL requirement is that if you want to run an FFL business out of your home, it actually has to be a business with posted hours and a regular entrance for the business. In other words, you have to have a dedicated place for the business with a separate public entrance. This is the problem with local ordinances since they generally prohibit this type of setup for a home business. The business hour posting requirement is there so the BATF can come and do inspections as necessary. If you post your hours and aren't actually open without a good reason, they can yank your FFL. In short, these requirements were put into place to do away with the home hobbyist who wanted an FFL to make a little cash on the side and get wholesale pricing (similar to what folks with a C&R do).

To answer your original question though, it would be great to get a $15 transfer.

Checked into it last year and all of that including, you have to live in a zone that permits it, and making sure you have a safe adequate for storage of all firearms when business is closed . You will be inspected by the BATFE and you have to do two interviews with them as well one by phone the other in person .The reason for the regular hours of operation is so you can be contacted .You can only be open one day a week 2 hours a day if you want but you have to observe those hours .

And heck yeah on the 15 dollar FFL transfer .But I can understand the reason for the high fees .Especially on a gun that a dealer regularly stocks.
