Barrel Threading

Recommended Posts

Getting ready to get a .22 suppressor and have some barrel questions if anyone has any experience. I have a 10/22 and Mark II that I would like to attach the suppressor to. Can I get those barrel's threaded and if so, any reccommendation on who I should go to in Nashville area? Otherwise I will just buy threaded barrels but just trying to save some money.

Also, can I attach a bull barrel to my 10/22 or do I have to I have to get a different stock?

Thanks.

I know your 10-22 can be threaded. I've never done a Mark II myself. Perhaps someone with one or who has had one done, will chime in for you. For your stock question, you could open the barrel channel or have it done. Or just get a stock to make it easier on you.

GunTroll answered on the 10/22 well. In some cases, it may be cheaper for you to simply get a pre-threaded barrel. If you've got the basic carbine model, the stock won't accomodate a .920" barrel without modification.

As to the Mark II, the barreled upper is considered by the ATF to be the receiver, so threaded uppers like the Tactical Solutions PacLite (which is an awesome upper, btw) can get expensive. Becasue of that you may be able to more economically thread that barrel.

If you are wanting a Bull Barrel it seems to me you could kill several birds with one stone here

buy an aftermarket bull barrel that is already threaded. Save money on smithing and get a more accurate target barrel.

Tactical Solutions makes some very nice threaded 10/22 barrels, or if you want to go a little cheaper Green Mountain makes extremely good ones as well, for around $100. I'm not sure if they offer a threaded version though.
