Perfect weather for being in the woods!

The last two days have been a welcomed treat for me. I took full advantage by getting in the woods both days. Saturday I went out late morning and did some hunting lease maintenance. I took down a couple of treestands, took down a couple ground blinds and put up a couple of corn feeders. I also got to do some early scouting for spring turkey season. I saw 35 turkeys and at least 7 had beards. 3 of them were big mature birds.

Today I took my daughter and her friend squirrel hunting. The action was a little slow, but we had a good walk in the woods and my daughter made one perfect head shot on a gray squirrel at 25 yards. We got to see a couple fox squirrels and 5 deer too. Later we were joined by my friend and his son. We took down a couple more deer stands and did a little more woods walking. I was glad to see that the turkeys found the corn feeder the first morning it was out and we got another chance to see the flock. All in all we had a great morning and got the kids out of the house for a few hours.
