CZ-75 SP01 Phantom Range Report

I took my new CZ-75 SP-01 Phantom out to Coal Creek Armory this afternoon and was instantly happy with my purchase. I ran 150 rounds through it without an issue. I accidentally loaded an extra round into my 2nd mag and it took it without much trouble, so 19 + 1 is doable.

The recoil was a bit more than I had experienced with the all metal CZ line I had test fired, but I think the weight reduction is worth it. Here's the results of the first magazine from about 8 yards. Firing was done standing with only the first shot being DA and the rest being SA. The X is about an inch across and the red is about 3 inches wide.

I was impressed with it. My second mag i tried some faster shooting on. Here's the results. This wasn't double tap speed, but no more than a second or two between shots.

Everything ran smoothly and I'm in the process of cleaning it now. The cleaning is mostly toolless, A non marring hammer (I used an old cell phone charger) to tap out the slide release and the barrel assembly comes off with hands.

The DA motion is a bit grimy feeling as reported elsewhere. You can feel 2 breaking points before it actually fires. I hear this gets better with use so i'll run a thousand rounds through it before i start looking into a trigger job.

I picked up a 16 rnd magazine while i was at the shop. You can never have too many magazines and I think the gun looks alot better without the extension hanging out of the bottom.

Feel free to ask any questions. If i missed something lemme know. As my first 9mm and my first non .22lr firearm I'm very happy with my purchase and the results of my first time out with it.

Also if anyone has a source for cheap target ammo send me a link

Thanks,

Drew

Back from my 3rd range visit with the cz75 I'm up to 400 rounds through it. the trigger is getting much better after plenty of dryfire drills and Im still amazed at how accurate it is. I've picked up a couple more magazines for it as I think the 18 round mag sticks out further than i'd like. both of the aftermarket magazines don't fall cleanly when ejected. They still eject a few inches out, but then stop. I think things are just abit more snug in the poly handled phantom. We'll see if that continues with more use. I found that a local walmart had boxes of tulaammo for 9.45 a box. so i ran 100 rounds through it without a single issue. I may start using that as my new cheap practice ammo. I'm more and more pleased with my choice of the CZ every day. I am still very much an amateur shooter, but my grouping at close range is getting alot better. Can't wait to see what this thing feels like at 1000 rounds.

Avid, avid fan of the CZ75 SP-01 Phantom myself. Great range report.

I'm up to about 1,100 rounds on mine, and what you suspect of the trigger improvements at that point are correct. Also for me, this gun is by far and away the most accurate pistol I have ever owned.

I quite often think of going to it as an EDC, and my just do that at some point soon.
