Question for the 1911 lovers.

Question for all the 1911 lovers. Since I have gotten into firearms I own or have owned Glocks, H&Ks, Sigs, FNs, Rugers, and various manufacturers of 1911s. Out of all the handguns that I have owned or have shot, I am definitely a 1911 fanboy.

While I love my 1911s, I recently I picked up a 2011. I have to admit that everytime I shoot it a smile appears on my face. It is an absolute joy to shoot. I had been looking at a HK 45, but I think my next 45 (later in the year) will be another 2011.

What are your thoughts on the 2011 platform? Love 'em, hate 'em, own 'em?

Some of the NTPS guys will be along shortly with lots of intel I'm sure... While I don't own one I've shot a few and they're excellent guns, there's a reason they're pretty much THE platform in IPSC/USPSA.

A 2011 is pretty much a double-stack 1911 with a polymer lower so the grip stays almost the same size as the single-stack guns; An HK45 is a different animal entirely, I owned one briefly and while a good gun it's just a totally different thing. An HK45 is an accurate and rugged gun meant to be strapped on as a side-arm, a 2011 is more like a precision instrument. I won't be picking up another HK45 again, but pretty sure I'll end up with a 2011 down the road sometime.
