The Colt XSE Rail Gun in stainless (or blackened stainless, if that's your flavor) or the SW1911. I was in literally exactly your shoes earlier this year, with just over $1,000 to spend, and I ended up with the Colt. I don't have a single complaint about it. It has been flawless (almost 1k rounds through it already and I love it!)

I'm just starting to look into 1911's but in my limited experience I would say the Springfield Loaded Champion Stainless model.

I was in your shoes as well. I went with a SW1911ES.

I would save another $300 and buy a SPRINGFIELD TRP.

Ding!! Ding!! Ding!!! Lots of good to really great 1911's out there. I've had 2 Springfields and love'em. But that's my opinion.

You could actually probably find a used Springfield TRP for $900-1000. Buy used and get more value for your money. Springers are very well made pistols.

I was in the same pair of shoes, must have been a real big pair but, I now have a Colt Combat Elite on layaway at BudsGunShop. Only owe 129 left on it so I will have it soon.

I would just buy a used Kimber Warrior or TLE and call it a day.

I agree, for a $1000 I would look at a used 1911. You can find a bunch with very low round counts. If you wouldn't mind spending $400 more, someone had a nice Les Baer Thunder Ranch posted in the classifieds (don't know if it has been sold or not).

Dawson has them for $999. The Trojan gets my vote, BTW.

Curious why you say so. What is it about them you like?

DAN WESSON.

Another excellent pistol. They can't be had as inexpensive as they used to be. And they are in general kind of hard to find. But, there are a few good deals on them out there.
