Are glocks really this good?

Well it's time to bust my cherry on this site. First time to join something like this. I'm a glock fan and I wanted to find out if what I tried with my glocks was stupid or if they are as good as I think. I was shooting one day and I noticed one of the pins around the trigger had come partially out. I took the upper off the 17 and put it on the lower 22 and kept firing and it fired well. Now I manually cycled a couple mags through it before I actually shot it. Did I get lucky or are they just that good?

Luck... no. Quality... partly, more or less you caught it before something went wrong. Any major decent manufacturer will have something go wrong eventually... With that said, depending on your maintenance habits and the way you treat the weapon, you may never have a problem. I would be very much interested in finding out why the pin came out, instead of being glad it didn't come out all the way during use. Quite frankly...loose pins aren't the end of the world, but they shouldn't come out under normal stress... I mean think about it, I normally takes a mallet and a punch to get them out, so it just loosening up means there is something else that caused it to happen. That's my two cents. Yes, the 17 upper will fit on the 22 and work fine. The frames are nearly identical.
Not just nearly. They ARE identical. Same with the G31.

ETA: While the frames are indeed identical, I feel compelled to point out that the ejectors are different. This is the ONLY difference in a G17 lower vs. a G22 lower, and folks swap uppers all the time without a hiccup. If it were a permanent change, I'd probably swap the ejectors out, but for the OP's purposes (quick fix), swapping uppers works just fine. As has already been said, the pin working its way out of the frame is the bigger concern.
