After shooting 1000's of rounds through my p22 I figured it was time to start looking at a 9mm. Here's my choice.

CZ75 SP-01 Phantom

Here's some unboxing pics for you to enjoy.

Can't wait to get it to the range!

Got it from budsgunshop.com for a little over 480 after FFL fees.

Congrats on your first centerfire and for your impeccable taste. The SP-01 is an awesome gun. I love all of their decocker models.

I have the smaller P-01 and a friend has one like yours. We swapped at the range one day and I was VERY impressed with how much difference the longer sight radius made. It is by far the most accurate 9mm I've had a chance to shoot.

Quick question, Does anybody bother with a "break in" procedure on handguns? I can't imagine it would help much, but don't know that it would hurt much either.

Clean and inspect it. Shoot it. Clean and inspect. Repeat. I believe that could be considered a "break-in."

Sorry. Don't mean to come across as a wiseass, but in simpliest terms, that's really it. Just keep it clean and maintained and be observant. And one more thing...enjoy yourself.

I was referring to the "fire a round, run a oiled swab through the barrel, fire 5 rounds, run an oiled swab, fire 15, run a swab etc. " I've seen some recommendations for this and I'm thinking it's overkill for everything except 1/2 mile rifles etc.

CZ's have a rather complex trigger system with lots of moving parts. These parts will smooth out a lot after 300 or so rounds, leaving you with a smooth trigger that feels great. If you ran 50 rounds through that gun this weekend and let somebody put another 250-300 rounds through it for you, you'd be AMAZED how much different the trigger felt when you got it back. You'll feel other differences too with time, but the trigger gets the most benefit from use.

The bigger issue is reliability. Until you've put hundreds of rounds (including the hollowpoints you intend to carry) down range, you can't really trust any gun with your life. You'll find that some ammo works better than others, too. Lots of CZ owners report having issues with CCI Blazer ammo, but they usually handle just about everything else with grace, even the cheapo Russian ammo like Wolf, Tula, and Bear.

Yes that is overkill! Just go and shoot and enjoy.

I'm not sure if its because i'm not sure what i'm feeling for or if they've gotten better at it, but when dry firing it tonight the trigger feels fine in SA. DA is abit off, but i'm sure after a few hundred rounds it'll be fine. I'll try a couple different ammo types and run a few 100 rounds of whatever I decide to carry. I'll proabably open carry it while backpacking on the cumberland plateau. No bears to worry about, so unless i happen upon a trophy hog I think 9mm should be fine.

Dry-firing it a lot will do wonders for the trigger, since each pull will be full DA. You'll see a difference in no time, but it will never feel like a striker-fired trigger except in SA.

Good luck baggin that trophy hog. Wish we had some around here.

I've never seen one, but i hear they can be a handful. I've got a dog that goes with me so it's for her protection from those things as much as mine.

Very nice looking weapon.

Thanks, Word on the street is if you can get used to the trigger it throws a very consistent pattern.
