Got comcast cable and internet currently. Currently have ATT wireless iphone, home phone.

Can now get Uverse according to their engineering. Still doesn't show that I do online.

Comparison between the two?

What you get vs the other?

Costs comparison?

Pros and cons?

Anything else I'm not asking or thinking about?

I have a flip down under cabinet kitchen tv that really is nowhere to put a box, I could up in the cabinet, but what is the best option for that? Doesn't have to get all the channels, just local.

I have comcast interwebs with direct TV for TV and ATT iphone.

but from what i hear, you on;y get X bandwidth from U-verse. And TV and Phone would be using that same bandwidth. So TV/Phone could take away speed from interwebs.

Comcast offices use the next step of AT&T which is not available to us yet. It's not u-verse, it's a fiber optic deal that we won't get for a while. It blows Comcast's service out of the water. That's why Comcast uses AT&T instead of their own service.

Well....that....is just sad!

David,

My neighborhood was one of the first in Memphis to have Uverse available and I jumped on it. It's been over a year now and I still LOVE it. The picture quality is MUCH better than Comcast was, it's a little cheaper, the internet delivers speeds faster than advertised versus 60% of advertised like Comcast. Uverse requires no contract, so it doesn't hurt to try it out. If I was a betting man, I'd put a paycheck on you never even coming close to thinking about Comcast again.

I just switched to Uverse a couple months ago. I had DTV, and ATT DSL and iphone. I ran the numbers in an excel sheet, and it was indeed the deal. Plus with the cash back I got, I bought my Geissele SSA Trigger. Overall I am very pleased. I have Comcast at work and at Momma's, and I really hate comcast time warner, whatever there calling it these days.

Anyhoo, here's my thoughts:

My picture is by far the best quality, plus tons of HD.

I don't have to buy my equipment, and just as much interactive content as cable.

Internet is pretty good, comcast may be a bit faster.

The DVR's are awesome, you can record 4 shows at once or 2 hd at once. Doesn't have a slo-mo feature though. I had Tivo with Dtv, and I'd go back to Direct if they offered the new Tivo box, Tivo definitely makes the most enjoyable interface.

Saved me a lot of money for the first 6months, we'll see after the probationary period ends here two months from now.

I didn't get the home phone, cause I'm already paying for two iphones. (I wish they'd stop that 30$/phone multimedia fee or I'd have three)

Overall I've had a good experience,

A few observations that I have noticed. Technology speaking , Comcast seems to be behind and falling behind. The onscreen menu sucks...bad. It is a step above the old deal where you go to channel 4 or something and the channels scroll and if you miss what you are looking for, you just have to wait till it rolls back by! The iphone app for Uverse allows you to set recordings, change recordings watch your recordings on your phone, watch shows from their library if you have the 300 and up plan. The comcast app, if you have the right box, you can do some of this stuff, but you can't watch your recordings. You can control the tv channel, which is good, since my kids lose the remote all the time! That's about the only thing I saw on the comcast app.

I have AT&T UVerse and can't wait until my contract is up to dump it. I need a service call on the average, once a month. Always the same problem, the TV freezes in mid-frame for periods of 5 seconds to 15 minites, and with the package ($180.00/month) you loose everything where it goes down. Theyve replaced the modem three times, ran new wire from the property line to the modem and still I get freezes. Also, ir took their accounting department 5 months to honor the sign up discount.

Theiir technology may be better but it's like giving a computer to a caveman.

Got my pricing back, looks like ,with the 12 month discount, it is cheaper by $25 dollars per month, about the same after the first year promo, but I get way more. Got to go through the channels of the U300 more closely, I already can say I don't get the movie channels that are offered at comcast at this price.

I would love it if U-Verse was better than Comcast. An AT&T guy stopped by and told me I can get everything from them for $138 that I’m paying Comcast over $200 ($210 I think) for.

I was leaving and didn’t have time to talk with him.

I’m really into TV here is what I have/need….

I need two HD DVR boxes than can record at least two HD shows each while watching a third that is already recorded. Most everything I watch is in HD.

I have HBO, Show, Max, Stars, and TMC. I also have these on-demand so I get to watch them when I want.

I also have a very large selection of On-Demand TV… most of the major networks and most of the primetime shows. This is where I watch most of my regular programming that I don’t record. I like watching it on my schedule.

I can access and program my DVR from the net.

My internet is so fast the numbers don’t matter anymore. I don’t know what it’s up to but unless I’m downloading a CD; I’m not waiting on anything.

I don’t have service outages.

As you can probably tell I’m pretty happy with Comcast. It just pizzes me off that they don’t have much competition. If I can cut my bill as much as they claim and still have all the goodies I have…. I’m in. But I’m pretty skeptical that will happen.

Oh and… I don’t do introductory or 12 months pricing; I go by what it will cost in the long run. Who wants to shop their service every year?

So who has the full meal deal with U-Verse; how does it compare?

When I asked for pricing I asked for the "real" price after the promo and it is the same as what I'm paying currently but with more channels. Still going through all the info.

I have a business account with Comcast at the house - can't imagine changing it. It's faster than anything AT&T offers with U-verse and while it might be more expensive, it's easily worth it considering the amount of data I need to push up and down off the 'net each day for my business.

To each his own, but I love Comcast.

Most of AT&T tech support is in India. Comcast has support in Knoxville.

I used to support Bellsouth fast access, before AT&T brought them back, and last week, I was helping a person with their AT&T and I only needed the password. The password call was 15 minutes with the tech in India. No problems, no problems verifying any information, he just took about that long to get it reset.

I was not taking him how to do anything to the equipment. He actually had more questions for me about what I was doing, why I needed it. I just needed it as I was resetting the modem to put the router in PPOE mode and not using the modem to authenticate. I waited until I was off the phone with the tech before I did any of that.

While I worked for Bellsouth, they didn't ofter of a good package and I got a better deal with Comcast. I have been with Comcast since 2001, actually since it was a service called @home then Comcast brought them out.

Broadband is like real-state, location, location, location

I would not take AT&T for 20 dollars a month right now I am so happy with Comcast, however I know some people hate Comcast and love AT&T. It comes back to location.
