I can see where castle law realy dosent apply to my work situation so much as it is a retail store and they are walking in to rob me not breaking in. My orginal question goes with the topic more so should i get a armed security guard license and should the store get bonded/insured somehow (if such a thing exist). Or is my HCP and my advanced handgun training class enough for me and my father in law to get bonded/insured (agian if that exist)?

You don’t need the Castle Doctrine to protect you in an armed robbery. If an armed robber pulls a gun on you and you shoot them; you are justified, and you probably won’t get sued.

If you miss him and shoot an innocent bystander you and the business are going to be sued and you could be charged criminally if you are reckless. Will it matter what training you had? It might affect punitive damages, but the end result shows you didn’t have enough training or enough experience.

Training is a good thing; get all you can get. Will it protect you from the consequences of a bad shoot? No, but it might keep you having a bad shoot.

You as an individual can always get bonded, Lloyds of London used to do all of mine when I was in MI. This was not for security work but they will bond or insure anything. The more training and certificates that you have can and will affect the cost.

Was it very expensive to get bonded in Michigan to carry a handgun? What about in Tennessee when bond was required to carry a handgun?

MI was not to bad to carry at 500,000 policy was 75$ every six months but I was a regular customer with the state jobs that I did.
