Logon issue

After I log in I am re-directed to the forums screen and it shows that I am logged in as a guest until I click on a forum heading. Is that normal? It took me some time to figure this out. I thought I wasn't being logged on at all because I don't get a "Thanks for logging in" message'" until I click on one of the sub-forums.

It does that to me all the time, using firefox. Not a cache issue, either. So who knows. I just always login, and then click the "Forum" tab exactly like you mentioned. Then I'm recognized by the forum and can do whatever. Has always been that way for me, and I just learned to deal with it. lol. Not much help I know... but you aren't alone in that issue. :D

99.999999% of the time it's something blocking the cookies from our software. Either the browser or anti-virus / anti-spyware software.

I was wondering about that sort of issue. I experience the same thing on my Mac, my PC, and my iPad. Always have to login and then click "forum" or similar. And actually, I often get an error message about incorrect name/password but it still logs me in. Not sure what that's about.

But back to the point. This happens on Firefox for the PC (browser set to accept cookies, including 3rd party cookies; anti-virus/spyware enabled on computer), Firefox for the Mac (browser set to accept cookies only from sites I navigate to; no anti-virus//spyware enabled on computer), and on Atomic Browser for the iPad (don't think there are any settings for cookies; don't think any anti-virus/spyware software exists).

From that it doesn't seem like it's a cookie issue, because they are enabled to varying degrees and all systems react the same. It doesn't seem like it's an anti-virus/spyware issue, because the issues persist even when that is not present. It doesn't seem like a browser issue (though I have not done extensive testing) because it happens in both Firefox and Atomic Browser. All around it's just confusing, but like everyone else it's just something I have learned to work around.
