Can anyone tell me what shooting sports/competitions are available in the Tri-Cities area? I'm not really interested in Trap/Skeet. I think I would be interested in Bullseye, maybe USPSA or IDPA. 3-gun sounds fun. Really, I am interested in knowing about any regular competition in the area.

Tri-cities is closest, but anywhere in East TN would be okay.

Thanks!

Is Cleveland too far out of your way? If not, I am having a 3gun match this Saturday the 9th. This is a monthly match at the Cleveland Hunting Rifle Pistol Club. CHRPC.com.The matches are open to the public and cost $10 to shoot.

howdy cap, from Kingsport!

I don't shoot competition..don't have the time, but its good to see folks from up close to me posting up.

it improves the odds of finding a shooting buddy

Thanks for the responses.

Price, Cleveland is a little far, but if the matches are monthly I might make it down for one. If Jordan's BBQ is still open it is almost worth the drive just for that! I lived in Cleveland for about a year and I miss that BBQ.

I will check out the Oak Ridge site as well. This is a little closer than Cleveland.

I would still like to find something closer to Tri-Cities.

Kettlefoot in Bristol has IDPA matches on the 4th Saturday every month. Tac 2 in Greeneville is the 2nd Saturday every month. They are both really good ranges with well run matches. The first time is free for either range.

Thank you all. The Steel Challenge match at Oak Ridge sounds like fun. I think I would prefer shooting from a single position (Steel Challenge, Bullseye, etc.) over the "practical" matches. I may still look into the local IDPA matches, though. Who knows, I might like it.

We shoot Steel at ORSA on the fourth Saturday of the month. Lots of fun. You can even shoot your .22 (from low ready) if you want.

Come on down to Oak Ridge on the fourth Sat. (23rd I think) and bang and clang with us. Steel is a great starting point for practical pistol shooting because it is mostly static shooting with short strings and lots of draws.

Sevier Indoor range does a match about once a month. Call them and they will put you on their email list for upcoming matchs and events.

Will you be shooting 3/22? How many mags are needed? I assume a 1911 .45 would be appropriate.

Yes, there is a steel match scheduled for 3/22. 5 Magazines is ideal, as you will be shooting 5 strings per stage. You could get by with less as somebody could reload some mags for you while you are at the line.

1911 will be fine. We also have a rimfire division and a revolver division. Its all fun.
