carrying on campus

I'm from MI and went to school there, so I havn't bothered looking into it, but I am now curious- what are the laws on carrying in a public or private university here in TN?

What about in classroom vs in halls vs in parking lot vs unloaded and locked in car, etc?

I understand that almost all universities have a policy against guns on the property seperate from the laws as well, and that they can post a sign to make it legally binding.

Just assuming the university doesn't, what are the state laws?

As far as TN law goes K-12 and Unveristy/College are all Schools.

In general you can not have a firearm on campus period.

If you are just dropping off kids or picking them up, you can remain armed.

As far as leaving it in your car, there is a provision in the non-intent to go armed (which most say means "unloaded") part that says a "non-student" adult can have in their car if they don't touch or allowed to to be touched by others.

So if you are a student, it's a no go anyway you look at it.

not legal. You can't even keep it your vehicle.

I keep OC spray on my persons at all time and that's it. It's not worth it.

***I should be more specific, I'm referring to UTK and other universities in TN.

Ok, yea I wasnt sure if 'school' applied to univeristys here. thats a bummer.

In michigan you could carry as long as you werent in an actual classroom.

Yeah and you need to be careful at churches here as well. Ones that have a school are offlimits as well. This one gets a little gray, or might not be too obvious.
