Hi Point 9mm carbine

I can't do this right this minute, but I've found one I can get for $130. That seems awfully reasonable to me. The trigger is surprisingly good on it; most I've felt were really stiff. I still don't know much about these, though. I had a Ruger PC9, (not the same league, I know) and I miss having a 9mm carbine around. Would this Hi Point be a good deal, or are they "stay away from" material?

I would suggest you find the MSRP for it and compare. Either way, new or used, if it ever breaks you can send it in and they'll fix it with no questions asked. A great gun to have if you plan on not treating it the best.

I say take the deal. SOunds like a good one.

Sounds like an alright deal, but check out the Beretta CX4 in 9mm. They are more expensive, but have alot more accessories to play with!!

I'm not much of an accessory guy... I like 'em simple and functional.

The Hi-Point is rated higher than the Beretta or other carbines. Sounds like a buy.

"Rated" where and in what way? Can you give me a link?

High Point may build guns that are even uglier than Glocks, but like the Glocks they work fine. I have a bud who has one of those carbines,it functions fine and is quite accurate as well. Not my cup o' tea, but if you want a cheap 9mm carbine get it. Gun Test magazine gives it a good rating as well and they are not kind to guns that don't work.

Gun tests rate it high as well as every magazine that has done a test on them, Look em up.

Sounds like a good deal to me. I keep hoping that either Hi Point or Kel Tec will put out a .45ACP carbine that takes XD45 mags. If I saw a 9mm HP carbine for $130 I'd buy it.

For $130 you can't go wrong! The manufacturer's warranty is second to none, and is for a lifetime, no matter if you are the original owner or third in line. They are not easy to find, and $130 is a genuine bargain. For more info check out this page:

yankee rifle

Your point? My Glocks, Taurii and CZ's aren't from these shores, even, and my Colt's are from Connecticut... :D I guess if you want a "rebel," head to Murfreesboro and get a Barrett... or Sabre in Nashville...

I have one of the Hi-Point 9mm carbines and really like it for plinking. The solution to the "god-awful ugly" issue is to buy a ATI replacement stock for around $50 that makes the carbine look similar to the Beretta. There is also a guy on ebay that sells aluminum barrel shrouds that also will dress it up a little.

I've never gotten an after-market mag to feed right, so stick with factory mags.

That stock does help - a lot.

Yeah... if the original bugged me enough. I don't mind the funk... there's something about it that I find cool...

Cool to see a thread about this little gun. I picked one up last year, because I my cousin had a ton of 9mm ammo that he didn't want, so he gave it to me, but I didn't have a 9mm of any kind. I've never been much of a fan of 9mm handguns, so I wanted something like the CX4, but I picked up the Hi Point for $150 NIB. I can honestly say, for just sittin around plinking, I love it. Never expected it to be anywhere near as good, or as accurate as what it turned out to be. But the CX4 stock is one upgrade that I'm definately gonna do to it soon.
