I used too. I have a CA MG36 (with a hand machined custom outer barrel), an Echo 1 M16A4 DMR, a Socom Gear MEU and a crappy WE M9. All my guns and gear are packed up in storage and thats probably where they'll stay for another 10 years at this rate. Airsoft is fun but i live in a terrible place to find games and there are frankly too many immature younger players.

I used to. Nothing organized. Once upon a time ago, I would lock down my warehouse and my crew and I would play Airsoft till dawn.

When upper management found out they put a real quick stop to it.

I still have a handful of low end MP5 AEGs, several springer shotguns, several springer pistols and a higher end gas Beretta 92.

It was fun, but I haven't used the stuff for years, it has been in the closet for about four years without use.

maybe we need to get a TGO game going. I can talk to the guy who owns the field in Franklin maybe we could have a members only day. He also rents guns so if you don't have a gun you could still come out. let me know if you would be interested

If you guys wanna get together and play one weekend I would definitely be interested in playing. I havnt played in a couple of months so I need to get going. I've also not had a cigarette in oh 32 days so I need to let out some aggression.

JG G36C and a few 1911s. Just like old times, except this is for entertainment instead of service. But yeah, I do every once in a while. I live in Memphis, though, so I might not be able to join you lads. You're quite a few hours drive.

Hey Octo, I'm in Memphis as well and I'd like to try playing sometime.... As I never have.

Let me know if you'd like to put something together!

Sounds good, Ghost. Supposedly there is a group that meets over in the Memphis Paintball Park on Sundays, but I can rarely ever make their times and I know not where it is. I don't do most of the local field games (Moore Field being the only one I know of), but I will go to events (Operation: Silent Night) every once in a while. Out of curiosity, what is your loadout?

So for those of us who have never played, how does a game work? FYI l've never played paintball either.

Here is a link to the general rules we have played by. In Memphis, anyway. Some fields have different limits on age or maximum velocity limits, but this is a pretty good set of guidelines...

I've never played, so I have no loadout. How do games work? Also, how accurate are airsoft guns? Ive only played paintball.

It is basically force on force games. Think of what you used to play as a kid, cowboys and indians, or cops robbers. Sometimes you will play a modified version of hide and seek, or capture the flag. Most what we played was capture the flag.

Good ruleset, pretty much the same thing we played by, even though we weren't organized.

The low end guns aren't that accurate, however nearly any AEG (automatic electric gun) will be full auto, meaning accuracy isn't nearly as important, and a bag of 10000 BBs is cheap. The heavier the BB the better the accuracy. We always used .20g although .12g are more common. Most guns will have a form of 'Hop-Up' which will put some backspin on the BB making it drop less, but it shoots with less FPS.

It was a lot of fun, the guns were more realistic than paintball guns and were easier to clean up after. The important thing is working on an honor system. The BBs don't leave an obvious hit like in paintball, so you have to call yourself out. Sometimes an unscrupulous person will forget to call themselves out until they have been hit a dozen times.

The lower end guns shoot at a lower FPS, and there is usually a pretty fair difference between .12g and .20g BBs. If your gun is rated at 350FPS with .12g BBs, odds are good you are only gonna be hitting 290FPS or so with .20gs. However the tradeoff is worth it IMO, better accuracy and a more solid hit.

When we played we had mostly lower end AEGs, and springer shotguns, with a handful of springer pistols and a couple of gas pistols. The AEGs didn't hurt, but they might sting a bit if they his skin. They were shooting lower FPS, maybe around 200FPS or so. The spring shotguns were the ones that were feared. Even with the .20g at a few yards they would break the skin. It didn't take too long before the gas pistols gained a reputation too, and everyone wanted to run with them. The AEGs were preferred. We were playing indoors, and the distances we played at, the AEGs were pretty good. When a mag dump would send 75 6mm BBs at your target, odds were good you were gonna hit them.

To be honest, I wouldn't mind getting back into it. Riding a desk the last handful of years has made me lazy. But Nashville is too far for me to go. We have a local shop here in town, but it has been so long since I have been there, I don't even know what is going on. Like I said, we were just an unorganized crew at work. I thought it would be a good team building experience and a great way to relieve stress. It must have worked, because three years later, all the cats that played still work there, and talk about it. This is in a very high turnover position.

Airsoft is much like paintball, but with guns that look and feel real. Some even blow back like real guns. It's much more like military simulation called mil-sim. You wear camo or even military uniforms instead of jerseys like paintball. Give it a try sometime if you get a chance. Most people where goggles or safety glasses, but I always wear a full face mask after having a buddy get his front tooth shot out.

I have an M4 with a tight bore barrel shooting around 350FPS with a .25 gram bb I can group about 8 inches at 50 yards with a pretty solid thud on a target. It can put a hole in a coke can. Most of the fields have a limit around 400.

Decent AEGs (automatic electric gun) can be had for around $150-200.

Looks like there's some pretty cool stuff out there, like a full auto flat top M4.

This is my Classic Army M4 with my MEU blow back .45 pistol. The black thing on the rail is the battery holder.

If we want to get a game going we need to come up with a date and get it on the calender. The field is close to the Ag center off of I65 in Franklin. The owner would prefer to limit games to 30 or so people. So waht dates would work and how many might want to play?

Here is my mg42
