22-250

Recommended Posts

i am now waiting for my new 22-250 to be shipped to me. in the mean time, i am getting all my ducks in a row to load up some ammo and go shooting! i have never reloaded for this caliber and would like some of your favorite combinations for an accurate load. i have a set of lee dies that i bought last year. i heard that H380 (?) was a good powder as well. i am looking for a long range varmint round, probably going to try a 55gr nosler balastic tip or a hornady 55gr vmax. i'm also looking at trying some nosler brass. thought i would see what you guys use. oh, the rifle is a remington 700 VS 26inch heavy barrel with a H S precision stock.

I used a compressed load of IMR 4350 years ago for my 22-250. I do not remember the weight of the load, but using that powder you cannot make a dangerous load. I was using a 55 gr. bullet.

38.5 gr of H380 and a 50gr Nosler Balistic Tip has worked great for me. Best 5 shot group .276 worst group .533. The best thing you can do, in my experience, is start with what you have load the entire run from your favorite manual in .5 grain increments and go have some trigger time.
