It's pricey though $450 for long guns. A Teflon or Moly coating would be cheaper $200, and probably plenty effective. Just depends on how much you want to spend. If I was a rich man with endless pockets it would be NP3 Plus for sure

Yup. I sent an XD9 off to them once for NP3. Slicker than goose ****. VERY nice, but very slick. Wouldn't be a big deal on a long gun, though.

Birdsong Black-T is supposed to be the best out there and the choice of (some) Navy Seals .... according to Birdsong.

Salt bath nitriding, which goes by the various trade names of Tenifer, Melonite, Tufftride and Isonite. Not only is it virtually impervious to rust, it's harder than nails (RC60 +/-).
