M40A1 & M40

The 40A1 is carried over from http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/show-tell/32126-m40a1-clone-done-now.html

I am about done with both projects not and thought that I would share some quick shots.

The 40A1 is “more correct†than the 40. The M40a1 clone is the correct serial number range, McMillian USMC Sniper Return Stock, GAP clip slotted, all the USMC correct stampings, USO mount & USO USMC SNIPER MST-100 scope. I has a Apr ’77 MRT sling and the older trigger with the tall safety.

The M40 is not close but is what it is… A 1980’s PSS in a wood stock that I found on ebay. Redfield 1†tube (non-accurange) Redfield 1-64 rings. 40x Sling swivels with a July 1964 MRT sling.

I have a Leupold USMC M40 Rifle Green scope that I may add to the m40 clone or I may save it for my woodland return stock build if I cannot find a MST-100.

Very nice looking recreations! How much did all that cost you in the long run?

Thanks

THe M40 was not bad at all...

The 40A1 is a $$$ build. The scope/mount alone was 3k+

Here is GAP's version.

USMC M40A1

Keep in mind that the GAP price is without a Return stock. Return stocks go from $700-1,500+ depending on what it is.

In late 2010 McMillan came out with a few (20) of their own and they sold out quick at $8,451 each (8451 Old Sniper MOS#)
