Disable facebook plugin?

Can the facebook plugin be disabled on an individual basis? Reason I ask is because I get a slow initial page load when going into a topic. If I look down in the notification/activity bar I see the waiting for facebook.com/plugin more often than not. I'm using IE8 on windows 7. I dont have the facebook connection on in my profile and I did look through all the settings but may be I missed something?

I use facebook quite a bit, but I don't use the plug-in. I don't like facebook in my business on other sites (tirelessly as they may try). I trust TGO. Facebook, not so much.

Yah, this. I added a FB blocking extension to Safari so those little tabs don't even load...

Wow....maybe that is what my problem was. Got to where it was faster for me to scroll to the top of the page than click the "Top" button at the bottom of the thread, becaues it seemed like the page reloaded.

Thanks!!

I use FB all the time and do TGO, but usually don't crossover much.
