Well, I was looking today to find out if the red dawn remake was actually going to ever come out, when some site or other mentioned this movie

Tomorrow when the war began

Tomorrow, When the War Began (2010) - IMDb

Australian movie, with a very similar story line. I watched it, as I didn't really have anything else to do. Its mediocre. Red Dawn is much better, but if you just can't wait for the remake, and really want to watch a new version of the same general story, and you have about an hour and 40 minutes to kill, its not a horrible movie. Hasn't been released in the U.S. though, so the only way you're gonna get it is to find somewhere to download it, or import it so far as I know.

I've seen the commercials, and screenshots and such for homefront. I'm waiting for an actually review. From what I've seen of it, it looks like it could go either way, totally awesome, or pretty poor. Definitely waiting to see more on it though.

Well I probably wouldn't know the difference. Last game system I owned was a PS1 when it was new and the last FPS I played was either DOOM or Escape from Castle Wolfenstein.

I'm not so big on the near future stuff thats in it. If I'm gonna play a game as a resistance fighter, I don't wanna be well armed! Start me out in the game with a deer rifle, or the old beat up revolver out of my glovebox, and set me loose. I don't want attack helicopters, and robot armed vehicles! Thats what's really getting me with it. There was an old ps2 game....and I just can't seem to remember the name of it where you're a plumber when (I think it was russians) invade. You start out with a pipe wrench, and build up from there with whatever you can pick up. Thats what I want in a game like that! Doesn't seem right that they're stressing that these are civilians, but they have tanks and attack helicopters. Now, that being said, theres still about a 95% chance I'm gonna buy it anyways

Of course, the Aussies would probably lose, since there is NOT a rifle behind every blade of grass there...
