New Knife for my Birthday

Recommended Posts

Posted

My wife got me this knife as one of my birthday (Jan. 1st) presents. It is only $20 but I fell in love with it when I saw it. I have bought one for other people as presents for the last two Christmas and I have made sure to tell her, "This is the exact knife I want".

Well this year I bought one for my soon to be Brother-In-Law, and showed it to her again. She snapped a picture with her phone and went to the store and show the man behind the counter the picture and said, "I need to buy one of these".

that looks like one of the lightweight columbia rivers knife & tool "military" knives (but made in taiwan, IIRC). They are ultra lightweight with a fast open thumb knob, lockblade -- its seems to be a fighting knife design but makes a fine cutting tool and the larger ones would be usable as a hunting knife. If its the same thing, the pic is a bit hard to tell so I am guessing.

Very nice. I have always liked gerber, several of my favorites were made by them. The handle curve is different from the crkt one, but its still very similar overall.

I know what you mean about the "exact knife".

I could carry 'bout any knife made I guess, but I'm also carrying a $20 model, and it happens to be Gerber also, the Profile. Wish it were US made, but oh well, it has exactly the features I want. Fact that it won't break by heart to lose it is just another plus.

It's a good looking knife. I have a lot of my Dad's old knives - lock blade, bucks, case, bokers, etc - some of the few things I have of his (my ahole brother and his evil spawn did God knows what with his guns). One little "gentlemans' knife" I can remember my Dad having as far back as I have memories.

Anyway, decided to get in the 21st century and got a Spyderco Stretch for Christmas - it has the combo blade like the Gerber.

I think i will have to get one of the Gerbers now that you shared this with us! Really nice looking knife and that price can't be beat.

Cool blade, it looks like my benchmade automatic knife. I am definitely going to buy one of those. Thanks for sharing that.

Hope you see this Memphismason - watching Science Channel (Factory Made) and they just showed how they make the Gerber Auto opener; cool process and tough looking knife. I thought of the pic of your EVO while watching; gotta be similiar, as this one had the serrated edge, too.

The steel is so tough they have to retool the cutter for the serrations every three blades...
