Hey guys can some of you tell me whats the best HP ammo for the keltec P11? I am having a hard time with reliability from the HPs I have. I have heard they are picky about HP ammo but I cant afford to go buy 5 different kinds of ammo to find the right defencive round that functions well in this little gun. All the FMJ stuff I have tried has functioned flawlessly. BTW the hollow points I am using are remington.

Don't know if you can still get it, but I keep mine loaded with Win silvertips. Back in the day it was considered good self defense ammo. I'm sure gold dots and others are probably considered better now, but these silvertips run through my p11 just as good as fmj.

did you polish the feed ramp? they can be a little rough on some guns and be part of the issue. Rather than look for a *brand* look a the actual cartridge. A longer nose with a smaller hole may feed better, in general, while a fatter/flatter head with a bigger hole may not, in general. Mine is a 40 so I am not going to mention specific brands.

I had feeding issues with a keltec p3at, I used hornady personal defense ammo...the nose had a red resin filler instead of the hollow nose...it worked flawlessly, I purchased 2 boxes as their expensive...and ran 1.5 box through it, then loaded my mags...I didnt shoot them anymore after that as they were strictly for SD, so it was ok to almost shoot them all up.

I believe it's Hornady Critical Defense ammo, Ghooge is referring to. It's the only HP ammo I can get to feed reliably in my Kimber Ultra CDP .45 acp.

It's very good SD ammo, and should feed o.k. in your Kel-Tec P-11 with no problem.

If he is buying for self defense, FMJ is a bad choice, no?

Correct.

Hornady Critical Defense was what I was gonna say as well. I dunno, my pf-9 seems to do well with the cor-bon dpx that I normally use, but Critical Defense seems to feed in just about anything and it's really good stuff.

only thing the plastic-nosed hornady has failed me on was my 44 mag desert eagle. It did not fit in the clip well and the plastic thingys bind up (could not even fully load the clip). Every other pistol the stuff has fed well and no complaints. I got the stuff a generation or so ago, though (bought fresh ammo before obama was elected, as it was plain to me he was going to win) so their current generation of this stuff may work in the 44 also. I have tried it in several 9mm, 40, 380, 357 (rev), 38 sp (rev) guns.
