I can hardly imagine any gun that would be less fun to plink with, myself!

I can think of a few worse ones, but they all run to the other extreme in size.

I know a lot of people don't see any defensive value in a gun the size of the NAA offerings, but most of those folks don't feel comfortable with anything smaller than a medium-size Howitzer anyway.

Still... none of 'em will ever volunteer to step in front of the tiny little guns though, and give a report on their effect. :D

Then again, quite a few folk that have gotten in front of one are no longer around to give a report... :)

I actually own one that has much worse combo of size, weight, caliber, capacity, ergonomics, workmanship, etc. A mighty Cobra derringer in .38 Special.

Oh, I'm pert shore that up close and personal, I'd feel pretty confident about my chances with one against a single opponent of any size. Have flirted with getting one for some time, but I'd just go for an original model, the break action is just tooo much, methinks.

I don't want to get hit by a paintball gun, but that's no reason I should carry one.

When I can carry a bigger pistol, I do. The .22 mag is an up-your-nose gun. I made a conscious decision to carry it, with 5 rounds, instead of a 2 shot derringer in a bigger caliber. Sometimes you're presented with a list of bad options - you do the best you can.

My brother used to have ( and might still... dunno ) one of those cheap, side-by-side derringer things, in .45 Colt/.410 shotgun... He kept it in a holster under the steering column of his patrol car as a "get off'a me" gun.

His had a selector switch on the hammer that chose which barrel to fire.

And if you put it in the middle... it'd fire both at once. Which he has done a time or two. :)

Now, given that he has a grip like a gorilla, and the fact that the gun still squirmed around and stood straight up in his hand... I think it probably gets the small gun award for "worst plinker" that I've ever personally seen.

If a paintball gun would fit in a pack of cigarettes and still pack a wallop, I might consider it. But as it won't, it's sort of an apples to oranges comparison.

A .22 mag mini-revolver is certainly no elephant gun, but history shows it's nothing to be sneezed at either.

I like it! It's a wee break-top reminiscent of the turn of the (last) century.

Am impressed that it actually appears to have an ejector. North American Arms

I really, really want one but at that price it ain't gonna happen.

Yeah, they're gonna have to get a fair bit cheaper before I'll have one too... :(

Whatever happened to the NAA 32 magnum revolver? I guess it didn't pan out.

I dunno... H&R had a break-top .32 a century or so ago, so I don't know why NAA apparently couldn't manage it.

The NAA Ranger (also known as The BreakTop)

I certainly hope these go into full production, so I can get my hands on one... or even two. :koolaid:

My NAA .22 mag revolver is my favorite carry gun... and it'd sure be nice to have one I didn't have to take apart to load.

Yeah, I know... not everybody's cup of tea.

But I'll have my NAA with me when the rest of y'all have left your Glocks and other larger guns at home.

BTW me want!

I am a fan of the mini mags as well. I would be very interested in getting one if they dropped to a price closer to the existing revolvers. Thanks for passing this along.

If they can just get it down to around $400, with a second cylinder/ejector assembly for .22lr, I'll have one.

I realize that the cylinder and ejector are more complicated than the standard cylinder is, so will drive the price up accordingly.

$300 would be great for that setup, but I think that's just too much to hope for with the current economic situation...

Hey Jamie,

When you want to get together and shoot your NAA across a chronograph? I am in the Knoxville area so if you are ever in the area let me know and we will sling some lead. I am always interested in the velocity numbers of various guns.

Dolomite

Thanks, Dolomite, but I really don't get out to that end of the state much... The last time was in '03, when the in-laws wanted us all to go camping with 'em, there in the mountains, and before that was in'97, when I spent some time in Greenville at their LE academy. Prior to that was sometime back in the late '80s... I don't remember the exact year.

If I do happen to end up out that way again, I'll certainly give you a yell though, and see if we can't get together and shoot something.
