We grilled some New York strip steaks, red potatoes with butter and dill seasoning, corn, and some cheesecake for dessert. I had a Fat Tire Ale with my meal and my pregnant wife had some sparkling grape juice (in a wine glass for effect of course). :-)

We Went to the O'Charleys @Turkey Creek.

Had a Sirloin and Ribs combo. Wife had Prime Rib Pasta. Daughter went old school; PrimeRib, Loaded Bake Tater, and Salad.

Then we went to See TRON in 3D @ the Regal Pinnacle.

Nice way to wrap up the year I think.

New Years Day (after I get back from the Gun Show @ Chillhowee Park) will be Baked Smithfield Ham, Black eyed peas, Spinach for the Greens and Mashed up Taters, Ice Tea, and Cornbread!

Early dinner at Olive Garden then back to the house in time to watch some Netflix and shoot some zombies on CoD with the kiddo.

I ain't eating no black eyed peas or mushy ass greens no matter what good luck it is supposed to bring.
I've got a recipe for black-eyed peas that you WOULD eat...i hated them also...til I fixed this recipe last year. Greens?...well...there just aint no "fixin" weeds....

I must be one of the few that actually like black eyed peas.

Hell, I like everything. Why I've never been thin.

I soaked a lb of black-eyed peas last night, just got 'em simmering nicely now. I forgo the hog jowl and just add pork chops in for last 45 min of simmer. Also, lots of garlic in there, couple onions, too.

It's ironic that this ritual is first based on Jewish lore, what with the pork ...

And then became even more widespread during lean times of Civil War and shortly after, when nobody had a hog period....

We have black eye peas year round, but especially on the first day of the year and july 13th. I have onions ,carrots, celery, and bell pepper with frozen veggies sauteing in a cast iron pot with black eye peas and rice to go in later. Have that with some corn bread.

Reminds me of the complicated recipe for having carp baked on pine plank; where you eventually toss the carp and eat the plank.
