meeting OS noonish on Sunday

he is easy to spot, looks like Donald Sutherland. Seriously, I will be the fat guy hanging out with the movie star.

he really does look just like him. And Mike looks like Red but with hair :(

I wish I could go this weekend but I'll be out of town. I'll catch you guys at the next one.

I won't be able to make it myself. I am sure it was probably posted however I work weekends and I need up to 6 weeks notice if I plan to take a sat or sun off. I didn't know about it in time.

I will get to a gun show when I know about one in time to get a day off.

Gun Show Listings ForTennesee

I met up with OS today at the Chilhowee show. we had a very relaxing afternoon of walking up and down the aisles. I have never been to one on a Sunday afternoon before and I think I liked it better than Saturday mornings. Very slow paced, though we did get the hard sell on some crap from a few vendor's.

we spend some time talking to the Luger man. He showed me some Nazi marking on a few guns and I really felt educated after talking to him. Aside from his WW2 Lugers I really liked a Mauser in 7.65 that he had for sale. Fortunately ( or otherwise) for me I did not have enough cash to buy it. But in all fairness he made me a great offer on it. OS tried to bedevil me by lending me a Benjamin but I said no way. Maybe the next show, who knows?

I made a offer on a Garand bayonet and sheath that a guy had, but he would not budge on it. His asking price was fair, very fair. But I want to feel like I am getting a deal, so I smiled and said thank you anyway. Wow it was a fair price, I probably should have snapped it up.

I ended up walking through the entire place and found nothing I wanted other than the Mauser and bayonet. So I settled on a few boxes of Tulloma .30 Carbine ammo that was economically priced and a 4 oz. bottle of CLP.

I left happy and it was a day well spent with a good friend.

i was disappointed in the selection of Milsurp rifles, not a lot there and nothing got my interest that was there. ( but I hit paydirt earlier in the week on a classic USGI arm so all was good anyway)

I am regretting the Mauser and bayonet though, wish I was flush like so many here seem to be.

The milsurp rifles that I saw went early during the show. The promoter said they had 1900+ and right at 5000 in attendance on Fri and Sat.

Just curious.... what was his price on the Mauser?

his marked price on the Mauser was 400, he came quite a bit off on it to try to get me to buy. If he has it at the next one I might bite.

I love me a .32 Auto.

sorry I didn't make it this show, work wise Dec & Jan were crap months and I am very tapped out at this time. I might however grace the next show as I foresee needing some powder and maybe some primers. Now is a good time to put me to work doing your remodeling work.......

Tempting.... I've seen a few on gunbroker starting at $300. Haven't owned a 7.65 / .32 and would like that to be my first!

I hear ya. Work is slow, it's the holidays, and I just bought a used car because it was cheaper than fixing the transmission in my other car. Wrong time of year for that to happen.
