C&R Question

Recommended Posts

Posted

I haven't bought anything with my C&R FFL that I got this fall. Yeah I know, crazy, huh? I really had my heart set on a CZ 52, but haven't had much luck finding one. I finally found one in good shape and reasonably priced online. I know I can have a C&R weapon sent to me from a site with my FFL on file.

Will sellers on sites like GunBroker.com honor my C&R and ship directly to me? Have any of you had any luck buying a C&R gun on GunBroker without having it shipped to a FFL dealer?

They always "ask" for an FFL dealer but they may work with you and not advertise it. I would just shoot GunBroker.com and email and ask

Try checking the curio and relic section of Gunbroker. I have bought rifles and handguns from out of state and they were always willing to ship to a C&R holder. Most I have seen also state C&R ok. Never had any hassles with anyone. Good luck on your hunt.

BUT...., Be ready that there are some dealers who don't understand what "is" a C&R firearm.

They make the mistake of looking at the ATF list of C&R firearms which are the Curios and not a complete list of C&R guns. That list was first developed to cover collectable firearms that were less than 50 years old. The dealers don't read the the opening page of the ATF C&R regs which now states in RED that any firearm 50 years or older is a Relic.

If a dealer asks, "Is it on the list..." you'll have some educating to do.

This is what I was hoping to hear.

I already asked GunBroker.com and am waiting for a reply. The last 2 guns I wanted to buy had too little time left to wait for a seller's reply. I just wanted to be prepared for the next chance.

I bought a Colt Woodsman few weeks ago. It was my 1st and only purchase. I sent a signed copy with my check and the dealer sent it to me.

Another auction that I bid on, I had emailed this question and had to send them a link to the ATF site showing that Woodsmen were C&R. They thanked

me for the info.
