Another .22lr 1911 is coming soon...

I just saw this; my apologies if this is a repost.

For 2011, Browning is putting out a 1911-A1 in .22lr that is 85% the size of the original, with a blowback action, much like that found on the Ruger 22/45 or Browning Buckmark.

I'm not sure whether the market really demands another .22 option for the 1911 enthusiast, but more competition = lower prices, so I hope they make a go of it. With a $600 MSRP, it had better be much nicer than currently available dedicated .22 1911s and conversion kits (so why fixed sights? Historical accuracy?). These will be available sometime in the 1st quarter of next year - when somebody on here buys one, send a range report.

My ATI for $300 is working just fine.

About that... Have you posted a review around here someplace, perchance?

Would be interested in seeing it, if you have.

And no, this ol' boy ain't spending $600 for a .22 1911. My wife would probably shoot me with it if I did anyway.

$300, on the other hand, is an entirely different matter...

Jamie,

Sorry, no review as yet. In a nutshell, it is reliable, reasonably accurate, feels like a real 1911(80% of the lower parts will interchange) and is great fun to shoot. I got mine from Phil at Bellshire Hardware.

Thanks Mike, that's what I needed to hear.

well that explains why you cant find a darn buckmark in anything but the basic setups for the last few months.

Sounds like a neat (but overpriced) way to celebrate the 100 years of 1911, browning style.

And why 85% size. If I want a 1911, I don't want a scaled down look a like.

My ATI for $300 is working just fine.

+1 on that!
