Hi all,

I just found this forum and wanted to say hello. I live in Franklin and we moved here from Durham, NC back in July. My primary gun interest is shotgun sports, especially skeet (just a recreational shooter, not competitive), but I also enjoy a little pistol and rim fire rifle shooting as well. It would be great to be able to find a local gun club where I could teach my 8 year old son how to shoot.

My firearms are:

CZ 75B 9mm pistol

Browning 625 Sporting 12g O/U shotgun

Browning Silver Hunter 12g sem-iauto shotgun

CZ Redhead 20g O/U shotgun (which I may try to sell soon)

Ruger 10/22 rifle

CZ 452 Scout .22 rifle for my 8 year-old son

In the near future I'd like to pick up a .22 pistol, maybe a Sig Sauer Mosquito or Walther P22.

Does anyone have any advice on places to shoot here in the middle TN area, especially in Williamson county? I know of the TN Clay Target Complex in north Nashville, but it's a bit far to drive for frequent shooting and their prices seem high compared to what I was used to in NC.

David

Welcome to TGO from a fellow Franklinite. Unfortunately, I'm not aware of any shotgun sport ranges in Williamson County. Charlie Hafner Memorial Range is is Williamson County, but they really don't have an organized shotgun area yet. It's not the nicest range in the world, but at $40 per year it's worth the cost. For indoor shooting, Uselton's has a 15 yard indoor range. It's very nice and quite convenient, but a bit expensive.

Welcome to both Franklin and TGO. I agree with Guy's comments above about CHMR and Uselton's. I've taken my 5-year-old daughter to CHMR twice for rimfire rifle shooting. She did well. If you find a quiet part of the line or go on a day when it's not busy, it's a good low-stress environment to teach the kiddos. Just be aware it's closed the first full weekend of every month. Once I wasn't thinking about it and made the drive down there anyway. The return trip was a little disappointing...
