Firearms inventory software

I came across "Firearms Collection Manager" (freeware, available at download.com) yesterday and installed it. Nothing much more than anyone who passes "Access 101" could do, but hey, its free.

Basically sets up an easy data entry screen for all the pertinent info on each item in your collection, then allows you to save and/or print out a report.

(You could also set up a useful Excel spreadsheet to do the same thing, but without having to deal with the evil CPU-sucking NetFramework 2.0 and the SQL module required.)

Just letting people know this is out there and wondering if anyone has any experience with it or uses something else. My "family" has grown to the point where keeping efficient and thorough records is a must.

If you really want a detailed list of your firearms and their serial numbers...call the batf and ask them to check their records.

In all seriousness, I keep the make, model and serial number of all weapons I have in a notebook. If I do a ftf sale of one, I handwrite the receipt in the notebook or I staple the receipt to the page that has that firearms' vital statistics (yah..I know I'm a dweeb).

I would keep in on a computer..but only If I backed it up.

I use a prgram called GunSafe version 2.8. It was freeware I found somewhere. I have had it on the computer since back in the summer with no ill effects.

It holds all pertinent information as well as photos.

It keeps info on Make, model, serial number, caliber, finish, barrel length, stock, condition, value, where and when it was purchased, purchase price, current value, info if you sell something, manufacture date, sights, maintenance records and more. All sorts of stuff.

I like it especially for the photo records it can hold.

I just Googled it and found it, Here is the link if anyone is interested

Thanks for posting the link. I had planned on sitting down and writing a program myself, but that will save me tons of time that I can now use to go shooting instead :P
