Springfield XD (1st handgun/Guns and Leather)

Hey everyone,

I purchased my first handgun, a Springfield XD subcompact in 9mm, yesterday.

I got to shoot the gun today and I must say it is a great little gun and it already has me thinking about my next purchase.

I just wanted to brag on Guns and Leather for a moment. The shop was great, everyone was very friendly. The salesman I dealt with showed me exactly what I wanted to see and didn't try to sway my opinion one way or another. He was also willing to answer any questions. Finally, the price I got was the best I've seen locally and even competed with online retailers.

I have a tactical and a service but no subcompact. I love both my guns and have many rounds through them. My service is my EDC. I use my service in IDPA and my tactical in 3 gun. Enjoy yours.

A good choice. My first sprinfield was and Xd9sc. A bit of advicethough. If later, you feel the urge for a laser sighting system; unless you have large hands, I'd not recommend the laser grips style. A rail mount or guide rod unit would be my nest. Nothing against lasers, especially the ctc units, but the grip attachment style really adds girth to the grip size. Just my own experience as I have medium to small hands. But the gun itself is a great fit.

Welcome to TGO. Congrats on a fine pistol. I have several XDs and 1911s from Springfield Armory, but none in 9 mm. The sub compact has been easy to carry, reliable and accurate.

Great choice! I've owned several, and they were all 100% reliable. Enjoy your new-found hobby...for soon...it shall be your newly-forged addiction!

Trust me. My name is Bronker, and I'm a non-recovering gun addict.

Thanks everyone for the welcoming. I have only shot the gun once so far and I am addicted...what should I buy next? ha

Tn.Mitch- I used the Greenbrier location. I figured the prices were the same at both and it was a little closer. I will have to check out the Hendersonville one soon.

I was in G&L on the same day with a buddy who was picking up a cz pistol. I was surprised at their knowledge and prices. I plan on picking up my next carry piece there.
