Saw a positive sign the other day

I was at Guns & Leather the other day picking up my new Ruger New Model Blackhawk (its sweet!) and saw something positive while I was waiting on the NICS check.

A father and his two little kids were in the store. Dad was doing a little haggling and the kids were messing around with some of the small rifles on display. (For those not familiar with G&L, most of the low-end long gun inventory is not behind the counter, but available to everyone to handle.) The little boy (could not be more than 5) was aiming a little pink .22 rifle. Dad sees him, stops him and says "Remember, what's the first rule?" Both kids recite in more or less unison something more or less along the lines of "point the barrel in a safe direction."

Warms this instructor's heart...

Go Dad!! ...

I have a lot of opinions about Parents, Guns and Kids it's too bad more of them don't expose and teach them about guns instead of trying to shelter them in hopes they will never see one.

Smart way to teach the kids at early age!
