Carrying a cane for self-defense purposes

I can't imagine why anyone would admit to carrying a cane for self defense. It's just like the 3D Maglite in my car........it's for seeing at night!

I'm not sure anyone has "admitted" to anything here have they? My question was completely and only hypothetical.

I was referring to to the side conversation regarding the Chicago case.

If you decide to carry a cane, and anybody asks why, just tell 'em it's to help keep your ass off the ground and over your feet.

You can leave out the part that it's for helping keep somebody else from putting you on your ass though... ;)

I walk with a "walking stick" daily and at home due to having a prosthetic right leg (AK) and bad balance along with it. My stick is very special as it is wood and comes from the part of the country where I grew up, the smokey mountians. It is cut from mountain laurel. A man who lives there looks for those that are bent in the proper way and mine is a nice crooked stick, (crooked stick for a crooked old man) but works great and makes a great club if needed. I would use it if it got to that, but first would be the Sig 220 Carry on my side and then the back up S&W Bodyguard 380 in my left pocket.

My hope would be to never need any thing, but you do what you have to do to stay alive or defend that which is yours. Then you face what you have to face.

I hope it never happens, but then I am prepared. That is why I carrry the type of ammo that will not hurt someone other than that person I am shooting at.

I get it from Exteme Shock. I put much thought and practice into self defense. I practice shooting at my range at least every other week.

My stick is there and helps me walk, but if needed then I use it.
