The end of Don't Ask, Don't Tell

Homophobia is an overused word, Mike. I'm not one at all. I just don't care what they do,

but when it gets into politics and infects it like these fools are doing with their mainstreaming

a lifestyle, it is an infringement. They have been seeking special status for a long time and found

a political party to co-opt them and use them as pawns. It's been like this for years and political

correctness is a tool to make us feel guilty about our attitude towards gays, just like everything

we say about a black politician makes us "racists" when there is no evidence to support the claim.

If gays deserve any better than anyone else on this planet let's see some rational argument, other

than calling someone a racist or homophobe. An individual who doesn't like gays, or better just

doesn't wish to be around gays doesn't automatically make him a homophobe. It's called bias and

it won't ever leave us because of a law. There's something to be said about the largest minority

being the individual. We all are different from each other. The only gays actively seeking this special

treatment are the ones that don't really give a damned about many of their own. It's more political

than you realize.

As far as those "Lincoln Log Republicans" you or someone else mentioned, probably to deride Repubs

as some kind of hypocrisy, you should realize that the "lincoln logs"(?) don't appear to be actively

engaged in this movement, nor are they interested in it. Some of the gays I know are politically

engaged in this garbage, and when I ask them about it, their answer is about as deep as a first grade

coloring book. They don't even seem to know the issue.

Legislating morality is dangerous to begin with. Like I said earlier, maybe their problem will cure itself,

unless they adopt a whole lot. Then that issue of it being a "gay" gene will be blown out. Why do they

have to associate themselves with lesbian, bisexual and transgendered if they are so unique? Is there a

bisexual gene? What about a transgendered gene? Or a lesbian gene? It's a lifestyle choice.

Ahh, they must be X-men!

I wasn't aware being lesbian was different than being gay. Bisexuality I believe is more of a mixed issue. I've known several girls who are only bi after a few drinks. Transgender I just don't know about.

As far as the adoption thing, that's the biggest crock of **** ever. Alot of people have been raised by gay parents and are straight. I'm good friends with one. I see straight people every day who don't deserve to raise a cockroach, but people would keep 2 loving gay patents from adopting? Don't even get me started on that issue.

What kind of a mixed issue could it be, Punisher? Transgenders, at least a lot of them consider themselves not gay. Just pointing out the obvious. You don't seem to pay attention to what I said on several posts. It's not that I personally give a damn what they do, but their actions shouldn't be codified into law "because" they are gay.

You might want to use an example rather than saying a straight couple not deserving an adopted child. That belongs to anyone adopting a child and isn't exclusive of whether one is gay or straight. I'm not gay bashing, but I don't respect anyone clamoring for special treatment under the law. They want special treatment. Just what makes them special in the first place. These things might not have been an issue if a certain political ideology had left it alone.

GLAD= Gay, Lesbian,Bisexual and Transgendered. A political organization devoted to the advances of gay causes, whatever those causes are. What you refer as a crock was tongue in cheek. I don't know any and never gave it much thought, except that gays will never prosper as a group if they can't pro-create. And if they did adopt, and somehow the numbers of gays increased over time, that it would blow a hole in the idea of a gay gene. It could, in some circles, be a case for endoctrination into a social class.

I don't consider them a viable threat in society and don't care what they do, but I don't think they deserve special treatment. Maybe you do.

As long as those two loving "whatever kind of" parents can raise and nurture a child wasn't being criticized. I think the whole of your political correctness is clouding your understanding of the real issue. Parental units of the same sex and with a different lifestyle pose several different questions. Who is the mother, or father? Which one? How is the child taught of the many varied styles of social and sexual relationships. It's not a question of liking or disliking gays for what they are, but more of what impact on society these relationships affect. Try reading a little on the Roman Civilization for some answers. I rather think societal breakdown is something to consider before we let "anything goes"

take hold.

I like a lot of others have worked in hospitals. You don't have any exclusive knowledge in that area. That's where my wife and I met. I don't have anything against gays, except when they expect special treatment by law. Where is your or my special treatment? Marriage is in the eyes of God, or for those that don't like that term, the church, and is only licensed by a government made up of man. Also, if they are so damned special how come blacks oppose SSM by a margin of 2-1. That's a demographic under the same tent. Interesting that gays want same sex marriage and blacks don't. I wonder what direction Obama leaned lately?

Ah, let them have their way. There must be a utopia, after all.

First, are you kidding me? I don't have any exclusive knowledge in the area of working in a hospital? What do you think I do for a living man? I work for the largest hospital system in Memphis! I really don't even understand what that has to do with the price of tea in China though.

Second, my statement about the mixed issue was directed at bisexuals and them alone. I think being Bi can be a choice to an extent. I know a few women who got tired of men and started dating girls. So I don't believe they were pre-disposed to be gay.

Finally, by your own admission you don't know any gays so what do you know about them? I have good friends that are gay, family members that are gay, and co-workers who are gay. I don't pull out the "oh I know a gay guy so I'm not a homophobe" card. I hang out with these people, share drinks with them, and they don't want anything but to be left the **** alone. Sure you have activists like anyone else. Tea party, Black panthers, etc. Every group of people has their own activists. And yes while tea party may be broader as far as inclusion, they are still an activist group.

The fact that you would say I am politically correct is amazing simply because I'm taking an opposing opinion on an issue. I thought we were pretty cool man, but the above post shows you obviously don't really know me too well.

I thought you worked in a hospital, sorry about that!

I never said that, at all. I know quite a few. Does that qualify you or I as experts because we might know some?

The only expertize you or I will possibly have is whether allowing something into or out of our own lives. I sure as

hell don't care about someone including themselves in my life without asking first, and that usually means politely,

not by a law. It's one thing to accuse me of being something when you don't know me, Punisher.

Any, you experts, Punisher included What exactly is a homophobe, that is without going to wiki, first.

I'm probably going away for a bit because of a post in another thread, but honestly it was worth it. So, I'll say this and bow out. I don't think you're homophobic, I just think most people can't separate their moral beliefs from reality plain and simple. If it works for you roll with it, doesn't work for me.

in my post on another thread, it was not my intent to start a homophobe/bigot laced thread. My point was simply stating how the guy/guy singing ruined the song. From that, it snowballed. As stated to TGO David, I am neither a homophobe or bigot. Its just not my thing and I don't approve of the practice, however, you do what floats your boat. My apologies to you and everyone else in that thread who go warned for their post since it was I who started it. Guess I should have thought it through a little more. BTW, how long does that warning thing last?

No wiki here... My homophobia ended when I knew enough homos WELL enough to understand what the average homo is all about. When somebody has the wrong perception of your average homo, I tend to call it homophobia because it's caused by the same thing.

Discrimination is wrong, plain and simple. Feel free to disagree.
