Gun Free Zone Kilings

I'm not sure if this is the right area to start this thread so, moderators, please feel free to move it.

I'd like to compile a list of "Gun Free Zones" that didn't work out too well because laws prohibited CC.

1. Columbine - 13 killed

2. Virginia Tech - 32 killed (I read that 30 of these were after the police arrived.)

3. Northern Illinois University - 6 killed

4. Fort Hood - 13 killed

5. Pearl, MS school shooting - 2 killed (Incident stopped by an Asst. Principal who went to his truck and retrieved his .45)

6. Heath High School, Paducah, KY - 3 killed

I can only assume that there was a "gunbusters" sign at the Florida School Board meeting and the only fatality was the perpatrator.

I think there was another one in the NorthEast where immigrants were applying for citizenship or something.

The purpose of this is to have a list for people who cry for more gun control so we can show them how it doesn't work already and the need to allow trained people to carry in these places could have saved lives.

there are hundreds of thousands of these you dont even hear about. just off the top of my head and locally, The school board meeting last week, no one actually got killed, except for the gunman. but everyone was lucky especially that foolish yet brave lady.

Johnny's sports bar - 1 killed (a permit holder that was following the law)

You think the gun control folks don’t have that info…. or care?

I have said all along… if you want to be able to carry, and you want to be an activist; tackle the real problem with carrying in businesses… lawsuits.

Business people fear lawsuits more than they fear a shooter. Get the law changed so that a business can’t get sued simply because that is where the shooting took place (Deep Pockets). And I mean a real restriction, not that lame azz stuff they have for us. A restriction that does not allow for businesses to be sued unless an employee was involved in the shooting or the business was involved in some other way.

With most legislators being lawyers I think it would be a hard fight; lawyers won’t want to give up a cash cow.

I'm sure the gun control folks have this information and I don't understand why they see it the way they do. Their solution would be to ban all guns and make them illegal. (That method has sure worked well with marijuana, crystal meth, cocaine, etc.)

I'm looking to gather this information more to educate the sheep that only go by what they see on the news and take it as gospel. If I can refute the liberal news media with facts about how it really works, I may just get someone to listen.

Good one, Ghooge2008! Thanks!

Interesting fact, Michael Carneal walked in the front door of the school and started shooting into a group of students in the front lobby. He then stopped shooting and surrendered. After the incident, the school put up cameras, put barbed wire fences all around campus, hired two unarmed (I don't remember them having guns) guards, issued school ID cards, and installed a intercom buzz-in system on the front door. They also started doing bag checks for a brief period. Despite all this, what would prevent a student from walking in with a gun in a holster or tucked into his pants and doing the exact same thing? Nothing. Nothing at all.

It's a mental disorder for most of them. Seriously. Just as they say left brained people are analytical, or that right brained people are artsy, liberals have an imbalance that causes them to not see the logical relationship of facts and truth. They are more responsive to their feelings and irrationalities.

Is this a disorder caused by an estrogen overload? They have the constant state of mind that "somebody else will take care of me". :)

(Sorry ladies. My wife has a permit and loves to shoot.)

Either that or it comes from driving a Prius. Either way, they think that the gubment is their mommy and daddy, not human parents.

Depending on the business, lawyers and/or insurance folks. I'm reasonably sure it's both in my company. The school thing is just our idiot politicians at work.

??? What's up with the Prius bashing? I drive one because it is comfortable and I only have to fill my tank once a month. I want as little government interference in my life as possible.

If you are just joking around and I'm not picking up on it, ignore my comment. I'm post-call and in that state where you can't sleep but are too tired to be awake.

Here's the issue. They are advertised as being really green because they use less fuel. However, they are a dirty car to make from what I hear, they don't use that much less gas unless you do a lot of stop and go driving (which unless you live in a really big city, or drive i-40 through nashville at rush hour is unlikely to happen enough to really help), and instead of using gas, they use power made by mainly coal plants. And you must be a shorter person, because at 6'4, the Prius is one of the most uncomfortable cars I've ever driven and the dash is horrible as far as I am concerned.

Just my view.

Be certain to get down to A LITTLE GUN HISTORY

In 1929, the Soviet Union established gun control. From 1929 to 1953, about 20 million dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

------------------------------

In 1911, Turkey established gun control. From 1915 to 1917, 1.5 million Armenians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

------------------------------

Germany established gun control in 1938 and from 1939 to 1945, a total of 13 million Jews and others who were unable to defend themselves were rounded up and exterminated.

------------------------------

China established gun control in 1935. From 1948 to 1952, 20 million political dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

------------------------------

Guatemala established gun control in 1964. From 1964 to 1981, 100,000 Mayan Indians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

---- ------------- -------------

Uganda established gun control in 1970. From 1971 to 1979, 300,000 Christians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

------------------------------

Cambodia established gun control in 1956. From 1975 to 1977, one million educated people, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

-----------------------------

Defenseless people rounded up and exterminated in the 20th Century because of gun control: 56 million.

------------------------------

You won't see this data on the US evening news, or hear politicians disseminating this information.

Guns in the hands of honest citizens save lives and property and, yes, gun-control laws adversely affect only the law-abiding citizens.

Take note my fellow Americans, before it's too late!

The next time someone talks in favor of gun control, please remind them of this history lesson.

With guns, we are 'citizens'. Without them, we are 'subjects'.

During WW II the Japanese decided not to invade America because they knew most Americans were ARMED!

Got it. Some of these environmentalist people take things to the extreme, and companies will say whatever they think the public wants to here. For me it is very comfortable, but yes I'm shorter (5'4"). Maybe it's the hilly portions of Memphis that I tend to drive on combined with stoplights, but I actually do better on the highway than when I go downtown. Going towards Frazier/Millington is fine because it's flatter. My mpg goes down in the winter (now at 45-46 mpg vs 51-53 in the summer), but I get good mileage year round without really trying. I drive for the sake of driving, not to get some magic number that I would not even know about if the car wasn't telling me.

Anyway to bring this back to your original comment, I agree with your comments about people thinking the government should look out for them. That is the mess that Obama seems to be propagating. You can't totally blame the unemployed either. If they can stay at home and earn essentially the same wage for doing nothing as they would get if they got a job flipping burgers (so to speak), what incentive do they have to work? So along similar lines, if they believe the government will make them feel safe by taking away their gun rights, why should they spend the time and money to train to defend themselves?
