See there...a cop can do whatever they want...LOL..

Um that statute actually doesnt give the cop any authority to take a license only that the driver may have the choice to surrender the license as security essentially.

This section of TCA is very old, outdated, and, IMO, should be repealed. I wasn't aware that any agency in Tennessee even still did this. Like Ghstface38, a suspended/revoked/cancelled license is the only time I've ever taken a license.

I went by the guy's work place today to see what had happen. He had got his license back, after he got someone to drive his car for him to the Estill Springs police dept. to show that the headlight had been replaced. I ask him did he know the officer's name, he said he did not know the officer's name. He said the officer never wrote him a ticket, just took his license.

For a headlight out? Guess the town's police do such a good job making the town "criminal free", that was all there was left to do! That's the kind of crap that gives cops a bad name.

that is insane, did not even write a ticket so he didn't even have a day in court to plead no contest to explain to the judge the hardship it casued. However at least he does not have to pay a 80 dollar or more ticket as well.
