I've said it before and I'll say it again: I am neither sheep nor sheepdog. If the wolves wanna eat the sheep, I'm quite content to let 'em. They start eyeballin' me, then we're gonna have issues.

Who knows... maybe eventually, the sheep will get tired of being fed on and quit being sheep....

It's no skin off my nose if they don't though.

I get the point of the article but 2005 was the safest year since 1975 (or so the internet tells me) and crime, I think, is down from the 2005 levels.

I always find it problematic when an author starts out with useless hyperbole in hopes that it will prove his point. In this case it especially troubling because the rest of the article isn't dependent on the introduction.

While I largely agree with the sentiment I think his argument is flawed. He only sees sheep, wolves and sheepdogs when it comes to security and such. The reality is that almost everyone is a sheep in some aspect of their life, a wolf in others and a sheepdog in others.

And what critter kills/eats sheep, sheep dogs, and wolves alike? Oh, that's right... Men. :squint:

BTW... I can't help but notice something... I've never had much success on educating the "sheep" on the error of their ways.

However, a really good encounter with a "wolf" will usually do a right smart job of it.... if they can be educated at all.

So I guess the wolves are, in their own way, just as beneficial as the sheepdogs are.

Don't want to be a Sheepdog. Don't have the inclination to be a wolf. I'm not gonna hurt anyone and the only one I want to protect is me and mine. Most of the sheep are on their own.
