Chamber empty or one in?

A full mag and one in the chamber, always.

With that being said I do not have any small children in my home.

I've seen a few in the barrel more than once, but the gun is pretty useless at that point

The one day I carry without one in the chamber will be the very day I need one there most. It's a big risk to go without so I actually do intend to carry it ready at all times. I have grown up around guns my entire life, I have a lot to learn...but I do know one simple thing: don't pull trigger, gun won't fire = no problems

I didn't when I first got my HCP for the first month probably, mainly while I was adjusting to carrying, but now every time before I leave the house I drop the mag, clear the chamber, and reload and rack it so make sure everything is functioning properly, is seated, and one is in the chamber in case I have to use it.
